Taste of dark malts, dark hedgerow fruits, quite fruity, dark plum, very mellow roast, fruity stout
Palate - Medium body, light sweet, smooth texture, soft tangy dark fruits. Finish of dark fruits, soft dark malts, slight chocolate and dark plum linger, getting more roast now
Overall - Interesting stout, very fruity

Cask (backlog). Black colour with a brown head. Aroma is some berries, roasted malts, chocolate and some mild liquorice notes. Flavour is berries, roast, liquorice, some chocolate, mild fudgelike sweetness as well as some slight bitterness in the finish. Nice body to it.

Hand-pulled pint in The Platform Alehouse on Albrighton station (Shropshire) on 10th Nov 2016. Clear and bright golden colour (same as the old Wolves shirts), the head a white foam crown. Semi-sweet, it reminded me of Holden’s Golden Glow although the pump clip said it was an IPA. Not really that hoppy, but pleasant enough and easy to drink because of it’s sweetness.

Bottle from Tanners, Shrewsbury. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - metallic and citric. Taste - more of the same and all finishes in a slightly sickly syrup note. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that could be fresher. Overall - too sweet unfortunately.

On cask at the Boathouse in Shrewsbury. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Some haze. Nose - apples predominantly but a touch of caramel in there too. Taste - apples and caramel well merged again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good though I prefer my bitters to be more biscuity.

Taste - apples and caramel well merged again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good though I prefer my bitters to be more biscuity.

Gravity cask @ Shrewsbury Food Festival June 2016. Pours clear gold, white bubbles. Aroma is light lemon fruit. Taste is standard, but pleasant, traditional golden ale territory. Fine.

Bottle thanks to Shrewsbury swap with minutemat. Appearance - dark brown to black with a hint of red and a lovely fluffy head. Nose - smoke, toffee and then dried fruit. Generally molasses. Taste - more molasses, then liquorice and then the smoke note kicks in and runs through to the finish. There’s a residual burnt raisin note that lasts for ages. Palate - molasses, liquorice and burnt toffee. Overall - it’s rich and gnarly and the challenge is rewarding. Actually it’s nice to drink a barley wine that isn’t just about marmalade.

Cask at the Falcon, Bridgnorth. Pours light gold with a small head. Aroma is sweet honey and straw. Taste is sweet, grainy straw. Light eggy finish.

Tried at the strait and narrow, Lincoln. Black colour with a light tan head. Roasted and fruity aroma. Taste sweet. Maybe to sweet.

Pours a watery brown with some fading, brown head. Nose has nougat, toffee, cherry, red wine, orange soda. Flavor is better, tobacco leaf, malt, bread crust, a little fruit cake. Sweet finish.
