Can. Slightly sweet barley malt. Medium yellow color with moderate head. Mildly sweet barley malt and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor. Medium body. One of a number of resurrections of classic Cincinnati beers - I never got a chance to try this before (had plenty of other Hudepohl-Schoenling beers though). This is the best of - kind of reminds me of the old Hudepohl Gold beer. Definitely better than the main stream pale lager - as long as this is available, I will keep this around for pale lager drinkers and when I want something lighter.

7oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a clear light gold with minimal head. Aroma of light hops and malt, and a bit of skunk. Taste is lightly sweet. Mostly tastes like cereal. Light bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, it’s not that awful. Cheap beer can be a lot worse than this.

Bottle, drank on a park bench on the LES of NYC. Malty character. Sweet, sugary. Very basic. Hints of syrup and touches of dough. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation. Subtle apple. Sugary finish. This is to be expected.

Can (brewed by Latrobe PA). Sweet sour barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with a nice head. Sweet corn/barley malt with a hint of hops. Used to love this in the 80s when I could go to Ohio and buy beer when I was 19 - granted that any beer tastes good when you’re young , inexperienced and desperate but this doesn’t seem like the same recipe that I remember.

Bottle. Lightly floral barley malt aroma. Clear amber color with nice off-white head. Light toffee barley malt flavor. Watery body. When I was 19, I could buy beer in Ohio and Hudy Gold was my go-to beer so I was really looking forward to trying this - unfortunately doesn’t measure up to my memories of Gold (or even Hudy Delite for that matter).

Can. Poured a hazy gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of very sweet grains and cereal with a bit of a cookie note as well. Flavor was similarly overly sweet with grains and shortbread.
