Associated Venue: Seven Sheds
Established in 2008
Seven Sheds opened for business in 2008 and continues to operate in its original “backyard” premises where visitors can see hops growing, sample the brews and meet the brewers.
The range includes a number of beers inspired by ingredients grown and produced in the Cradle Coast region including quinoa, oats, raspberries and honey. While the style is heavily influenced by English and European ales, Seven Sheds also produces quirky styles including a beetroot steam ale, a barrel-aged india pale ale and a tart cherry saison brewed with Kentish cherries.
Seven Sheds also produces a range of mead wines and one or more is usually available for tasting on request. The meads range from sweet and sparkling table wines to dry, medium and spiced meads.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a murky almost opaque orangey brown with hardly any head. Heavy peat aroma, quite some iodine here. Rich body, low carbonation. Rubbery, peaty notes. Very boozy finish. I still don’t like peat.... 221112

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a dark brown with a tint of red and a tiny off-white head. Subtle roast and overripe fruit in nose, a whiff of smoke - but particularly wood and heavy, heavy booze. Rich body, low carbonation, caramel and nuts, slightly ashy and woody. Again massive booze. Kinda like it. 221112

Bottle, around 14C. Cloudy brown with a light beige head. Subdued aroma of dried and stewed fruits, dough, oranges, herbs. Taste is briefly sweet with dark fruit and sugars, rapidly overtaken by herbal bitterness. After a few sips, the yeast and fruits emerge again. Some hard spices (cassia?) and hints of plummy sourness. Dry and (maybe a bit too) bitter at the end. Pretty good and full of character.

Bottle. Black with a dense light tan head. Gentle aroma of roasted malt, dark toffee, mocha, vanilla. Very nice smooth characteristic oatmeal mouthfeel. Very sweet with condensed milk, chocolate, a touch of roast, prunes, pine and citrus. Hop note seems dissonant and the sweetness is getting a bit much for me.

Bottle. Just cloudy amber with a dense cream head. Aroma is floral with caramel, some spices and biscuits. A little overcarbonated but very alive-feeling. Tastes slightly sweet and very biscuity with some butterscotch, hazelnuts and flowers. Bitterness is just less than balancing. Slight touch of metal at the end? - if it was there I stopped noticing it . Rich and a little rustic. Much more complex malt character than usually found in Australian beer. Pretty tasty. Second glass with farmhouse cheddar and a pickled onion, yum. Started OK and then really drew me in.
