440ml can from the brewery online store. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty , light dark chocolate. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a smooth, somewhat light, roasty, dark chocolate, spicy, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate and some alcohol burn. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. No hint of any sweetness if I’m honest and nothing like the cake it was supposed to mirror. Disappointing.

Tap at the mad Squirrel tap watford. A hazed pale yellow straw coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is soft floury wheat, waxy, citrus, crayon, grass, tangerine. Mineral. Palate is thin, grainy, chalky finish, highish spritzy carbonation. Flavour is composed of thin wheaty grains, grass, spicy citrus, mineral vague green veg hops, meh. This definitely won't fuel me through winter hibernation.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A chestnut pour with loose cream head that laces the glass nicely; malty aroma; malty taste with some autumnal fruits; then a touch of fudge leading into an earthy finish with some. A pleasant seasonal bitter.
