Commenced Brewing 2004 at Mimram Rd, Hertford as Red Squirrel Brewery. Moved in 2011 to Berkampstead Rd, Potton End after merging with a local Wine Producer. Rebranded to Mad Squirrel in February/March 2017 with some core range beers being renamed and others simply changing name from Red to Mad.

A Forward thinking, contemporary brewery based just outside of London, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. We have continually grown and evolved, often in unexpected ways. Always with a boundless enthusiasm for quality, an inquisitive approach to flavour and a restless desire to better ourselves.

Hand pulled half pint in the Shrewsbury Hotel on 31st May 2026. Slight haze in the light golden body, decent white top. Weak citrus leanings, all a bit bland or subtle, depending on how you feel. Glad I only bought a half.

Tap at mad Squirrel watford. A clouded brushed gold, orange colour with a fine white head. Aroma is soft wheat, tangerine, floral citrus, floury wheat, opal fruits, spicy citrus, papaya. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, floury wheat, chalky, spicy orange rind, tangerine, waxy citrus, Mellow dank, spicy drying finish. Palate is super crisp, flaked grains, spritzy carbonation, little thin. Solid pale. £8.50 a pint is a bit crazy for this though.

Cask at the 'Spoons in The City. This is probably the worst I've had from this great brewery. Smelt and tasted of dishwater. Unpleasant.
