Description
Commenced Brewing 2004 at Mimram Rd, Hertford as Red Squirrel Brewery. Moved in 2011 to Berkampstead Rd, Potton End after merging with a local Wine Producer. Rebranded to Mad Squirrel in February/March 2017 with some core range beers being renamed and others simply changing name from Red to Mad.
A Forward thinking, contemporary brewery based just outside of London, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. We have continually grown and evolved, often in unexpected ways. Always with a boundless enthusiasm for quality, an inquisitive approach to flavour and a restless desire to better ourselves.

Hazed golden orange topped with a white cap ...not very WC looking!
Nose is tangerine, grass, trace of pine needle, melon.
Taste comprises grapefruit, grass, pine nip, melon, citric tinged straw.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with grassy come light juicy hop bitterness.
Okay.

Taste comprises grapefruit, grass, raw pineapple, hint of mango, bitter citric flesh.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spliced with light danko come moderately resinous hop bitterness.
Not bad.

Can. Color: Hazy pale golden, white head. Aroma: Hoppy, stone fruit, tropical fruit. Taste: Hoppy, stone fruit, sweetish tropical fruit (papaya, overripe melon), some citrus fruit and hints of pine. Just below medium body, a bit thin. Just below average carbonation. Moderate sweet, light bitterness. A bit lemonade (Fanta) like. Mwah.

Can on 6th August 2026 from Harvest N5 via Deliveroo. Near opaque orange amber with shallow foam and scant lacing. Spiced tropical fruits and zesty citrus in aroma. Tangy citrus in-mouth. Savoury notes. A doughy finish with fading tangy fruits. Zingy mouthfeel and a full to medium body.

Tap at mad Squirrel watford. A translucent golden orange coloured pour with a a lasting white froth. Aroma is soft wheat, dank, weedy notes, grass. Flavour is composed of soft rounded grains, dank hop, weed, sweaty hop, firm bitterness, wet grass. Some mineral. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, moderate carbonation.. Assertive hop bitterness. Ok.

Tap at mad Squirrel watford. A hazed deep orange coloured pour with a small fine white head. Aroma is semi sweet, juicy fruit, mango, peach culle, nectarine, bready grains. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, creamy wheat, orange rind, pithy citrus, some pine chalky, minerality in the finish. Palate is chalky, pithy highish carbonation. Firm bitterness. Missed the mark a bit on the west coast part, but a decent beverage.

Can at home picked up from Mad Squirrel Watford. A light hazed pale golden yellow straw coloured pour with a lasting fluffy white head. Aroma is nice creamy wheat, white grape, sabro, pithy citrus. Flavour is composed of light grains, straw, bready, pithy, sabro, white grape, mellow sabro action. chalky finish. Palate is light grains, chalky, moderate fine carbonation. Decent, Sabro makes it better.
