Here at Biddenden Vineyards, Kent’s original vineyard, we pride ourselves on being a family run vineyard with the second and third generation of the Barnes family managing the estate.

Biddenden Vineyards celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019, an exciting milestone to have reached at an exciting time for English, and especially Kentish wine. The family is able to draw on 5 decades of winemaking knowledge and pair this with new methods & techniques to ensure that Biddenden is at the forefront of the English wine industry.

Cask at the 2018 Chelmsford & Mid Essex Beer & Cider Festival. Pours bright gold with minimal head. Aroma of sharp apples. Moderate sweetness, medium sour. Light body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Nice sour sharpness to finish.

Cask @ Chelmsford Beer Festival. Small head with short duration. Color is pink/orange. Aroma and taste are fruits, apples and has anice sour finish.

BIAB at Foleys Tap House, Leeds. Clear pale gold colour, no head and light apple aroma. Taste is fruity, apple, caramel, boozy. Syrupy mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, dry finish. Quite drinkable.

Draught at Number Twenty2 Darlington. Hazy pale yellow colour, short-lived thin fizzy head and fruity apple aroma. Taste is sweet, tangy spicy apple with light tannin. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry sweetish finish. OK.

Cask @ Stafford Beer & Cider Festival. No head. Color is water. Aroma and taste are bittersweet apples, fruits, sugar and has a light sour and sweet finish.

Cask @ Stafford Beer & Cider Festival. Cloudy without color and without head. Aroma is sweet apples, green apples, fruity and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet. Sweet finish with warming alcohol. 280717

Draught @ Wheatsheaf Beer Festival, Shrewsbury. Pours clear reddish pink, still. Aroma presents rich apple juice. Taste presents a distinct apple variety that I’m unused too, with a light tannic grip. Berry-like hints. Decent.

Polypin @ Wheatsheaf Beer Festival, Shrewsbury. Pours clear gold. Aroma has a decent rich apple fruit presence, continuing to taste. Light tannic grip but generally fairly clean, relying on a rich apple juice content to grab the senses. Nice blend.

Bag in a box at Kent & East Sussex Railway BF 2017. Pink gold colour no head. Some apple skin. Some red fruit. Medium. Some blue cheese. A little dryness on finish. Oddly mostly soft blue cheese flavour. Ok.

Box @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Clear golden-yellow, clean and crisp despite a dominant dryness. It’s not quite feeling its strength.
