Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of blutt59. Pours a clear golden with a huge and lively white head with good retention. Odd herbal licorice aroma combined with some citrusy hops. Medium body, fairly solid and fruity malt bill, citrusy hops, again some licorice. The finish is not overly bitter. 080911

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Pours hazy light amber with a slight fizzy off-white head. Aroma of light stone fruit. Med minus body. Flavor is floral and light fruit. There’s a lot of it. There’s some caramel in the background. It’s crisp and pretty clean. It drinks well, and arguably should be classed as DIPA. Judgement call. If it’s "just" an IPA, it’s one of the better ones.

On tap at Flying Saucer Houston. Pours a clear brown with an amber hue and a tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread and dark grain with a hint of hay. Flavor is similar with notes of bread and grain, with a bit of sweetness in the finish. Uninspiring.

On tap at Flying Saucer. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head diminishes quickly. Floral aroma and orange peel. Medium mouthfeel with sweet hop and lingering dry finish. A good IPA from Independence.

On tap at flying saucer. Pours a cloudy orange with small creamy off white head leaving sticky lacong along the glass. The aroma is fruit and citrus with lemon peel. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet fruit and apricot. Easy to drink, a good blond from Independence.

Cask at petrol station. Pours a hazy golden orange with A thin white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of guava and mango with a bit of a sweet grain backbone. Flavor is similar with a good amount of tropical fruit (mango and passion fruit) with some citrus coming out in the finish.

On tap at petrol station. Pours a hazy gold with a slight orange hue and a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has ahold amount of grain and sweet fruits with a bit of backing floral. Flavor is acomvination of sweet grains, sweet fruit and flora. A bit sweet but overall alright.

Bottle. Pours a near clear deep gold with a slight amber hue and a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has notes of grapefruit and pine with a decent amount of light sweet grains. Flavor starts with pine but transforms in to a citrus/grapefruit and a bit of sweet grains. On tap at petrol station. Pours quite a hazy amber orange with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of citrus with some grapefruit and a bit of pine. Backed by a hint of sweet grain. Flavor is a combination of citrus and sweet grains backed by a bit of grapefruit.

Sampled at Texas Beerfest. Pours a cloudy amber with a medium frothy beige head that lasts awhile. Medium mouthfeel with a raisin malt and light smokey finish. Easy to drink, a good scotch ale from Independence.

6/26/2009 Received in trade from TexIndy and RickSawyer thanks for the opportunity to try this brew. I actually had one bottle of this break in a shelving incident so I’m glad I had multiple bottles. This review is the 2007 Vintage and it has been in my cellar for about a year. Pours a clear medium to dark copper color with a good sized bubbly off white head that sticks around for a while. Aromas of caramel and light citrus come to the forefront. Slight alcohol and a twinge of biscuit round things out. Smells decent, but smells malty sweet, very little hop on the nose. The taste is sweet caramel and a light fruitiness. Its really malty sweet almost to the point of cloying. There’s a strange twang in the background that I can’t quite identify its almost metallic or phenolic luckily it doesn’t stick around long enough to ruin this completely. Slight alcohol burn in the finish. Carbonation is medium, mouthfeel is sticky, body is medium to thick. This one has some issues. It could be my fault for sitting on this bottle for 2 years, but as is this isn’t that good. Its heavy on the malt without enough hops to balance the sweetness. That strange taste doesn’t help much either. I’d love to give a fresh bottle a try.
