A pleasant enough Pilsener. Light fruity, malty flavour with a hint of dry, bitter hop in the finish.

33cl bottle thanks to Dutchdrebus. Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, some grains, lightly bitter. Nothing special but a decent, solid pilsener.

Golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, white bread, toast, light citrus, some fruity notes reminiscent of white wine. Light sweet malty flavour, bitter notes. Light to medium carbonation, lasting quite bitter malty finish.
Fine pilsener, nice initiative.

Draught at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam
Blond color, creamy head. Delicate cereals aroma, fruity. Moderate flavor of cereals, sweetish, with low bitterness.
It’s a bit sweet, but not bad.

30cl Bottle from Mitra Heerhugowaard. First of all, great initiative that brought forth this beer, and a really cool label, very reminiscent of Jack Daniels imho. The beer itself: clear pale golden colour, white head. Aroma is not very appealing at first, sulphur, swamp, dry white wine, odd fruitiness, opens up more when the beer warms up. Flavour is light sweet, tiny malt backbone, light floral, nice firm bitter grassy and light herbal finish. Light-bodied. Came across as a typical English Golden Ale with lager yeast, it lacks a whole lot of malt/bread flavours to be really tasty imo.

22 Oct 2012 saw me, my wife and 26 other members of the CAMRA Investors club have a wonderful afternoon as guests of the brewery: after a film show and giuded tour of the brewery we adjourned to the tasting celler bar where we were given seven different brews to taste: I had plenty of each, this one being my favourite beer of the day. I like sweeter brews and this fitted my needs nicely: top fermented (unusual for Heineken) and out for Christmas each year. Rich amber body with a full head of tan coloured bubbles, it looks fine. The smell is caramel first and foremost with wild fruits of the forest adding to the fairly sweet nose. The taste is also semi-sweet with those caramel notes again being at the front: maybe a bit ’one dimensional’ in flavour, but I really liked it and made sure I had more than my fair share of this highly enjoyable winter brew before we had to leave.

I don’t want to be unkind to the brewery because we were looked after so well but: this beer is a poor imitation of what I expect a good Weizen to be like. It may look the part: a cloudy light orange brew with a thinning head but it lacks aroma, flavour and depth. Weak vanilla esters in the nose and a slight yeasty feel to the taste don’t add up to a good beer, sorry.
