Description
Whiplash began as a side project for Alan & Alex back in 2016. Both working in brewing already, they rented tanks at the weekend and released single batch small releases for fun from their own place of work and other friend’s breweries around Ireland. Professional beer dudes who were gypsying for fun. Things escalated and by the end of 2017 Whiplash was its very own pain in the neck with the guys going full time, brewing Whiplash beer all over Ireland and Europe. 2019 saw the two complete their microbrewery build and establish Ballyfermot, Dublin as Whiplash headquarters complete with their own custom designed brewhouse delivering small batches of big beers. Now with a home, a kit and a small crew: Whiplash are very much the Dublin brewery at the forefront of all that’s modern in Irish beer.

Bodney Towers Bottleshare. Thanks to Dan the man for the can. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry and with decent fine carbonation. Smooth rich dark malts, some mild roast and mildly bitter licorice. Modest tangy fruits. Savoury bitterness. Light semi dry finish. Rich and savoury.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from Clapton Craft. Pours hazy gold with a modest, creamy white head. Lots of pithy citrus in the nose, lemon and grapefruit, some pale bread, minerals, pine needles. Light sweet flavour with a good dose of flinty dryness, more lemon rind, crunchy straw, biscuits, pithy grapefruit. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Dry and pithy to finish, with more lemon and grapefruit, moderate rindy bitterness, more dry biscuity pale malts. Really clean stuff overall. Nice one.

Can @ home. A bit hazy orange color, full sized quite long lasting white head. Aroma is lightly malts and quite nicely tropical fruity. Taste lightly malts, again quite nicely some tropical fruitiness, a bit sweet like ripe tropical fruit and a nice soft bitterness. Decent to medium body and soft to average yet suitable carbonation. Nice!

44cl Can, thanks Harmen! Hazy deep golden colour, white head. Incredibly fresh hoppy nose of citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruits, light pine, nettles. Flavour is bursting with citrus, grapefruit and tropical fruit as well, a bit more pine, nettles, spruce, medium sweet, firm bitterness. Medium bodied. Drinks way too easy but what a great DIPA.
