Description
Whiplash began as a side project for Alan & Alex back in 2016. Both working in brewing already, they rented tanks at the weekend and released single batch small releases for fun from their own place of work and other friend’s breweries around Ireland. Professional beer dudes who were gypsying for fun. Things escalated and by the end of 2017 Whiplash was its very own pain in the neck with the guys going full time, brewing Whiplash beer all over Ireland and Europe. 2019 saw the two complete their microbrewery build and establish Ballyfermot, Dublin as Whiplash headquarters complete with their own custom designed brewhouse delivering small batches of big beers. Now with a home, a kit and a small crew: Whiplash are very much the Dublin brewery at the forefront of all that’s modern in Irish beer.

Can at CBC Islington thanks to Dan. It pours hazy golden - orange with a medium white head. The aroma is soft, fresh, sweet, juicy, apricot, peach, candy, brioche, biscotti and icing sugar. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter - sweet, brioche, creamy, candied fruits, orange creamsicle, peach, solera ice lolly, kick of booze and some green grassy notes. Medium body and fine carbonation. Tastes rather nice, although the aroma doesn't quite match up.

Can. Simcoe, Ekuanot, El Dorado, Bru-1, Citra, Amarillo and Galaxy hops. Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Amazing nose of candy tropical fruits, skittles and pine. Light palate, semi dry and with decent fine carbonation. Thin malts, light thin creamy sweetness. Taste follows the nose. Light candy tropical fruits and a trace of skittles but is never overly sweet. Smooth pine and yellow grapefruit, a touch of pink grapefruit. Mild melon and even milder citric peel. A light hop spice runs throughout. Mellow bitterness on the light finish. A stunning array of big fruity hop goodness. A DIPA that reminds me of Weird Beard Gumball. If like me you loved that, this should delight you. It did me. Amazing.

Can from BrewDog online and drunk at home. Hazy orange colour lasting white head. tropical fruit aroma. Tangerine mango. Sweetish dipa aroma and flavour. Light caramel. Some bitterness on the finish. Decent I thought, more hoppy tropical fruity juicy dipa than some others. Not too sweet. It's fine.

On the taste there’s moderate piney bitterness with grapefruit, citrus peel, light caramel, moderate booziness. Medium bodied with average carb. Dry bitter finish. A pretty decent, old school style DIPA

Can from BrewDog website and drunk at home. Hazy cloudy gold orange lasting white head. Grapefruit aroma. Attractive. Cleanish in the mouth. Just a little bit of earth. But it's a rather drinkable delicious mouthfeel. More like a juice mouthfeel than a beer mouthfeel. Pretty good I thought. Not top notch but for the ABV pretty tasty. Grapefruit mostly with a touch of pine and orange marmalade (thanks to Ken for that).
