General guidance to members adding beers:-

Kernel beers are largely added as 'series' and the naming within the various series are for example ... 'Pale Ale - Hop(s)'. Capital letter on each hop, no commas.

Kernel beers are largely left unretired so don't tick the 'out of production' box unless it's a special/collaboration beer.

With all the various hop combinations it's not been unknown for a specific beer to re-appear again after an absence of 7 years.

The early beers named as 'sours' were brewed by kettle souring, as such these beers (typically 4% and below) are regarded by the brewer to be more akin to a Berliner Weisse stylistically and are therefore listed as such.

The brewery springs from the need to have more good beer. Beer deserving of a certain attention. Beer that forces you to confront and consider what you are drinking. Upfront hops, lingering bitternesses, warming alcohols, bodies of malt. Lengths and depths of flavour. We make Pale Ales, India Pale Ales and old school London Porters and Stouts towards these ends. Bottled alive, to give them time to grow.

Bottle at The Kernel Brewery, Bermondsey, London 04.06.11 Had this beer and the others in the ever delightful company of Ian Harissoni. Pours very dark brown with an off-white head. Soft in the mouth with a roastiness running through, some bitterness and a lovely hoppiness this is wonderfully drinkable. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle at The Kernel Brewery, Bermondsey, London 04.06.11 Had this beer and the others in the ever delightful company of Ian who suggested quite accurately that the nose on this was Maxwell House ® Wonderful coffee flavours throughout which slowly build up as you take each sip, nice spiciness from the hops. Very good beer. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

Bottle at The Kernel Brewery, Bermondsey, London 04.06.11 Had this beer and the others in the ever delightful company of Ian, also good to see and chat with Nate today. Pours more golden than the others with just the merest hint of haze and a nice white head atop. lovely soft carbonation, very easy drinking beer with a dab of the tropical coming through in the hops. Nice stuff, I had given this 3.7 and how strange this was totally in keeping with the consistent 3.7’s given to this beer. A7 A5 T7 P4 Ov14 3.7

On tap at The Kernel Brewery, Bermondsey, London 04.06.11 Pours orange/amber with a white filmy head. This has a good thrusty bitterness from the off, with a softness that caresses the tongue. A touch of tangerine perhaps but also a little bit of Polish seemed to come to me from somewhere. Lovely combination of hops and a little more assertive and interesting than the Mt Hood Pale ale that I drank this alongside. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

On tap at The Kernel Brewery, Bermondsey, London 04.06.11 Pours orange/amber. Good fruity tang, bit of soapy hoppiness, soft in the mouth, there is a little piney resin. Bitterness lingers on the roof of my mouth. Very nice beer. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

(Bottle, at the Kernel Brewery, London, 21 May 2011) Golden colour, hazy, with frothy white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, grapefruit, peaches and passion fruit. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, peaches and fresh hops in a finish with a generous, but well balanced, bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Tasty beer, excellent APA.

33cl bottle from the Kernel Brewery. Black beer lasting beige head. Hoppy aroma bit of choc. Firm in mouth. Good hop malt mix. Soft nit overly roasty more pure choc flavour with really well balanced hops. Bitter but nit stupud. Lovely

6.1% version. Very hazy orange - amber beer. Tiny white head. Semi crisp palate, semi dry. Minerally start with mildy bitter orange. Morphs in to pithy tangerine which is also pretty tangy. Finishes semi dry with a light touch of bitter grapefruit and a mildy bitter aftertaste. Love the tangy fruit here. Another pale ale winner from Kernel.

500 ml bottle from Kernel Brewery thanks to Fin and Loz. Bit grassy. Really drinkable grassy hoppy pale ale. Easy drinking pale ale.

Hazy gold-amber beer, little white head. Mild orange hop nose. Semi crisp and semi dry palate. Just a little streak of creamy malt. A delicate floralness leads to mild but fresh orange and a dash of tangerine. Minerally dry finish and mildy bitter aftertaste. A comparatively delicate pale ale from Kernel but every mouthful was interesting. Nice!
