Description
Flying Dog Brewery is a craft brewery located in Frederick, Maryland. It was founded in 1990 as a brewpub in Aspen, Colarado by George Stranahan and Richard McIntyre. Demand for Flying Dog beers quickly grew beyond the brewpub's capacity. In 1994, the company opened a 30-barrel brewery (Broadway Brewing Company) in Denver. Looking to expand again in 2006, Flying Dog purchased Frederick Brewing Company in Frederick, Maryland and began producing beer in both Maryland and Colorado. In December 2007, Flying Dog announced that it was closing the Denver brewery and would solely produce beer in its Frederick facility.

Bottle. Weird spicy nose, maybe peach, probably agave. Completely clear with an initial head that fades to nuttin in a few seconds. No visible sign of carbonation, a completely quite brew. My, this is a weird tasting brew too. Yes some peach in there but that agave thing makes it quite different and not necessarily in a good way. Appears boozy on the palate, more than 5% fer sher. BTW, not sure about the mexican lager thing, no sign of any lager or mexy thing in this at all. I guess the agave is the key monitor for the mexico thing. Get it? Agave? Mexico? Oh well, it is what it is and that depends on what the meaning of is, is! There you have it. OK for a tick, but would not buy this bomb again. Meh.

Bottle pours opaque amber with thick tan foam rising above the top of the glass. Creamy mouthfeel with complex flavors… something like orange rind spiced with a peppery bitterness. Enjoyed this, very nice IPA.

I love this IPA and the taste in the mouth is really intense, citrus and bitter, 13.03.16, thanks Fred to discover this beer at this time, one of the first beer in the past that it was a revelation for me, drinking sometimes, finding this beer in the ex grain d'orges, Crissier.

Bottle pours rich amber with orange tinged foam. The foam quickly reduces to a thin lace rimming the edges of the glass. Dense, clinging mouth feel with strong taste of alcohol and a bitterness reminiscent of orange peels. A beer to be savored - a very nice double ipa!

(Bottle) Amber colour with frothy off-white head. Hoppy, fruity nose with apricots, pine needles, orange, toast and caramel. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of apricots, pine needles, orange peel, dried pineapple, herbs, caramel and a generous citric/piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made WCIPA. Very nice.
