Description
Flying Dog Brewery is a craft brewery located in Frederick, Maryland. It was founded in 1990 as a brewpub in Aspen, Colarado by George Stranahan and Richard McIntyre. Demand for Flying Dog beers quickly grew beyond the brewpub's capacity. In 1994, the company opened a 30-barrel brewery (Broadway Brewing Company) in Denver. Looking to expand again in 2006, Flying Dog purchased Frederick Brewing Company in Frederick, Maryland and began producing beer in both Maryland and Colorado. In December 2007, Flying Dog announced that it was closing the Denver brewery and would solely produce beer in its Frederick facility.

Small bottle. Mahogany with tiny head. Booze, yeast and some ripened fruit along with vanilla notes. Good

Draught. Poured a reddish brown with mild head. Strong and hoppy as promised. Actually it overpowered a bit, not as balanced as I would like.

Draft. Pitch black with almost no head. Coffee/chocolate, I didn’t detect too much smokiness but maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention.

Draft. Poured an amber with a smallish head. Aroma was a bit of fruit. Not as bad as advertised, here.

Amber medium head. Slight hoppy nose. A bit of a caramel taste with a hops finish. Pretty decent marzen.

Draft from Ginger Man. Poured a medium orange. Aroma was hops, taste was biscuity/toffee, with nice hops finish. Good stuff.

Draft...poured amber w/smallish head. A very odd tasting amber, I really couldn’t palce it. Not a lot of hops or carbonation.

Draft. Minor head, cloudy gold. Kind of watery and not tons of flavor for a weizen.

Bottled.I didn’t find this as awful as some of the other raters did. I was surprised that it was a kolsch though, it certainly doesn’t taste much like a Reissdorf or a Gaffel - more like a watery Duvel?
