Cask at GBBF 2011. It pours dark chestnut brown, with a thick beige head. The nose is wood, nut, tar, caramel and farmyard. The taste is wood, chocolate, roasted malt, charcoal, nut, tar, solid bitterness and caramel, with a dry, nutty finish. Fully body and low carbonation. Decent.

Massa 14, DC tap ($8): Pours hazy orange color with a white head. Aroma of citrus, bubblegumish stuff, and earthiness. Body was pretty light and the drinking was relatively easy. Taste picked up notes of fruit, earthy yeast, and a good amount of spices. A pretty good saison, a style that I’m seeing a lot of these days for some reason. Would be a good session.
