Description
Established in 1994, we make real Herefordshire cider and perry using 100% juice of vintage varieties of apples and pears, harvested from traditional standard orchards. We have been granted Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) for all our products since 2003.
We make small batches of single variety and named varietal blends of cider and perry using wild yeast with natural, slow fermentations, matured in stainless steel tanks.

We’re proud to harness traditional methods with our ancient stone press, which dates from the 18th century. We work with nature to manage the orchards and create our products, with pomace (pressed fruit pulp) going to feed neighbouring Hereford cattle, and recycling wastewater.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Bit hazy golden with short lasting big white fizzy head. Lots of barnyard funk, woody, a touch of sweet pears, nettle tea, leathery. Pears are more on the creamy side, not so much like prosecco as often with perry. Light sweet and bitter, very light tart. Medium bodied, over medium dry. Love it.

375ml bottle from Hereford Beer House. Pours hazed gold, thin white ring atop. Aroma of raw pressed apple fruit, orchard must. Taste presents a nicely fruity, medium sweet blend, soft furry tannin, fine carbonation. More refined and mature tasting than previous Gregg's Pit I've tried which were a little rough around the edges. Really nice.
