Description
Established in 1992, Devon Ales is situated at the Mansfield Arms, Sauchie on Alloa’s outskirts. The Mansfield Arms is a family owned and run local hostelry that has seen over the last twenty years four generations of the Gibson family working in a public bar which is soaked in atmosphere and can be classed as a true Scottish working man's bar steeped in character and tradition where both the “patter” and ale flow in ample supply.

Cask at the Mansfield Arms, near Alloa, Scotland 21-03-09 in the company of Craig, Stella and kids. Pours reddy amber with an off white head. Some sweet berries on the nose. There is a furry sort of bitterness to this beer, a little toffee apple give it another dimension, reasonably tangy and a reasonably decent beer. A6 A3 F6 P3 OV12 3.0

Cask at the Mansfield Arms, near Alloa, Scotland 21-03-09 in the company of Craig, Stella and kids. Pours black with a light tan head. Roasty and bitter nose. Taste is dry and bitter but getting deeper into it there is some creaminess, but this is soon overwhelmed by some bitter coffee and burnt toast, roasty malts show in the mouth, its not bad at all. Cask at the Mansfield Arms, near Alloa, Scotland 21-03-09 in the company of Craig, Stella and kids. Pours amber with a white head, a little bubblyness. Taste is a little citrussy and bitter, some juiciness, and there is a slightly harsh metallic edge to this that just put me off a little A5 A3 F5 P2 OV10 2.5

Cask at GBBF08. Sweet syrupy liquorice aroma. Almost black colour. Good roasted and vinous flavour. The mouthfeel is not exactly thick, but OK. Vinous aftertaste, getting a little tart.
