About
Kompaan had humble beginnings, with just a few recipes and a whole lot of gusto. The brewery was founded by Jeroen and Jasper, two school friends that have known each other longer than not. They shared a zest for life and were ready to put The Hague on the craft beer map. The brewery name is based on this friendship, two companions drinking together. As a modern, young brewery making contemporary, exciting beers, the name is spelt in modern Dutch, as “kompaan”, and not “compaen”.

Can. Almost clear dark golden. Sweet malts, resinous hops, herbal, a bit of unripe apple and mango. Medium sweet, solid bitter. Oily medium body. Not bad, but I don't really get any tropical flavours...

Tap at the Dutch bar. A opaque dark black brown coloured pour with a a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is salty liquorice, earthy, meaty roast, metal. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty, liquorice, meaty roast, rusty penny, palate is semi sweet, rounded, mellow carbonation. Nice.

Tap at It Ain't Much If It Ain't Dutch Taproom 27/11/2024 Bitter hoppy and citrus fruity with notes of lemon, grapefruit, medium body, clean slightly sweet malty, a touch of pine into the bitter finish.

Tap at It Ain't Much If It Ain't Dutch Taproom 27/11/2024 Dark roasted and sweet malty with loads of silky chocolate, sweet dark caramel and toffee coming in, full body and a smooth mouthfeel, lingering dark malty warming finish.

Straight from can. Color: Almost black, I presume? Aroma: HopHoppy, roasted malt, hints of citrus. Taste: Hoppy, dark malt, some roasted malt, hints of citrus, subtle notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Moderate to over moderate sweet and hopbitter. Goint towards a BIPA, but some more roastiness. Just over medium body, just below average carbonation. Very nice one!

Can. Gusher! Clear golden with fluffy white head. Pils malts, grassy bitter hops, green leaves, light lime zest, grape skins, endive.edium sweet, a bit more bitter in a leafy way, very light sour. Medium bodied. I guess something went a little wrong, still not a terrible beer though.

44cl Blik, dank Harmen! Troebel amber kleur, vuilwitte kraag. Zoet, moutig, wort, ruikt en smaakt vet oud terwijl het redelijk vers zou moeten zijn, wel bitter maar weinig hopgeur. Zonde van de calorieën.
