0,5l bottle at home shared with Saeglopur. BB 04/2016. almost black color, very small dark coffee-colored head. smells strong of coffee, espresso, spices, coffee grounds, licorice, some ash, grainy, caramel, milky, bit weird one, I am not such a fan smells between a mixture of coffee grounds and grains. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of ash, charcoal, coffee grounds, some grains, burned grains, some caramel, licorice. finishes quite roasted bitter with notes of grains and spices. I am not a fan. Usually I am a sucker for all kinds of dark beers, but this one doesnt do it for me, just too much burned grains on the taste. Also rather simple one.

500 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Dark brown body, with a small, creamy, beige head.
Aroma of espresso, cocoa, caramel, liquorice, ash, some dark fruits.
Tastes ash, coffee, liquorice, chocolate, some dark fruits.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes quite dry, ashy, roasty-bitter, wooden, with coffee, liquorice, subtle cocoa.
Quite straight and not very sweet. Too much ashy notes for my liking though, especially in the taste, leading to a bit harsh finish. Overall a characterful Porter, but not exactly how I like this style.

Butelka 0.5 l (04.2016).

Very dark brown or black appearance. Head is quickly reducing itself to short crown, good lacing. In aroma and taste dominating are burnt dark malts, this burnt taste gives also too much bitterness which is not from hops nor has a good quality. After warming some melanoidines, bitter chocolate or strong cocoa notes in aroma, some hints of vanilla (maybe these or in a way remnants of oak flakes from sherry however in my opinion they are absolutely unidentifisble in this beer). It is quiet drinkable. Kudos for idea, but I was expecting much more. I have not felt any coconut, nor salt, nor sherry flake, and maybe a hint of rye malts as it is quiet drinkable. Palate is a bit interesting but unfortunately burnt malts are dominating. Maybe its just me as I don’t like this particular feature in dark beers, but it is quiet dominant. In aroma it gives almost smoked like notes (although this beer has no smoked malts) and the bitterness is from this pure burnt malt instead of some nice hops.
