Inspired by local brewing traditions and the vibrant US craft beer scene, Magic Rock Brewing is the culmination of a lifelong passion for beer. Richard Burhouse (aided by head brewer Stuart Ross) started the brewery in 2011 in an old out-building of the family business in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Alongside a distinctive core range we produce an ever changing line up of idiosyncratic beers with an innovative quality driven approach. Our ‘Same but Different’ beers are packed with intense yet approachable flavours which will challenge and inspire, but above all remain balanced and drinkable.

In 2022 Lion breweries sold Magic Rock In Good Company Brewing, who intern sold it to Keystone Brewing Group in 2025, and most recently to The Great British Drinks Company in 2026.

33cl bottle. Pours opaque black with a red hue and a nicely proportioned head. The nose has pine, grapefruit pith and just enough coffee. The taste has a burnt coffee note with a pithy finish. Medium to full bodied, big texture, relatively clean. Overall, a good andn interesting beer.

cask at 9A ... glden yellow ...thin white head ... soft lemon citrus nose .. soft bitter grassy front ... light easy citrus lemon hop ... soft malt ... easy session ... but little bitter for me ... quite drying

330ml bottle. Opaque black with superb off-white to beige frothy lacing and lasting head. Wonderful typical (American) IPA hoppy aroma with a sweet dark malt undertone, herbes. Soft beginning, a taste like a walk in the forrest, blueberry, resin, coniferes, a dry mouthfeel throughout, decent sweetness, decent sourness - what a combination! This is awesome, full of flavour but oh so drinkable. Superb!

Bottle 330ml.Clear dark black colour with a large to huge, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, spruce, grapefruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, licoric, hoppy, citrus - grapefruit, spruce, pine. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120121]

Bottle at home ... deep black ... thick tan head ... deep roast ... nice chocolate pine ... and oddly orange hop nose ... litte bitter front ... soft chocolate ... little thicker than most black ipas ... almost a light oatmeal ... sweet creamy pine and orange ... im enjoying the citrus tones from this ... hints of chocolate ... Oh yeah ... this is pretty solid ... and im well enjoying it. keg at red squirell ... deep black ... thin tan head ... soft chocolate roast and big pine nose...little co2 prickly ... juicy roast ... dark malts ...soft pine hop ... big zezt ... beutifully drinkable

330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a small head. Aroma is pineapple and mango. Taste is bitter grapefruit to start. Strong, bitter mango finish. Good stuff.

Deep rich orange...hazy...white frothy head that dissipates to rim of glass
Aroma - Strongly hopped...sweet rich juicy golden malts....citrus and grassy hops....tropical fruits...resinous hops...slight herbal notes
Taste - Grassy resinous bitter hops..tropical fruits..citrus hops..grapefruit...caramelised orange...rich sweet golden malt background...complex hop profile...well blended...not too harsh...alcohol is noticeable
Palate - soft to medium carb...medium body...sticky oily texture...mouth puckering. Finish - increased bitterness here then gradually tails off.
Well made US-style IPA

Keg @ Brauadar. Orange colour, white head. Nose is fruity, grapefruit and resin. Flavour is grapefruits, fruity, bit of dry biscuit. Medium bodied. Bitter and fruity finish. Well done.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a large head. Aroma is roasty, beefy, yeasty, some slight citrus hops underneath. Taste is roast, yeast. A bit beefy. Lots of roast coffee on the finish.
