Established in 2005, Mt. Carmel reestablished Cincinnati's brewing frontier. Today, our extended family of brewers and neighbors continues to push it forward. 12oz bottle scooped up in Columbus. Unfiltered orange-tan. Thin, creamy white head. A pretty decent Blonde Ale, with some fresh zest that works well with the creamy, medium body. Fruity ale notes, this isn’t as pedestrian as the name would suggest. Pretty solid offering, rich and malty, but balanced and refreshing too.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark copper with a small, tan head. The aroma is pine and resin hops, biscuit dough, and a little black pepper and caramel. The flavor is mildly bitter up front, with a small spiciness in the middle and faint, bready sweetness throughout. The palate is medium, creamy, and sticky. Overall, this is a nice amber ale, and somewhat hop forward.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice spotty lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange, lemon zest, pepper, pine, wheat, floral, herbal, and light yeast spices. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and decent strength. Taste of orange zest, lemon, pine, wheat, pepper, bread, herbal, floral, and light yeast spices. Lingering notes of citrus, pine, wheat, herbal, and floral on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance of flavors with good hop complexity. No cloying flavors at all; fairly clean on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Hardly any alcohol noticed after the finish as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a very nice hoppy wheat ale. Nice balance of flavors with good hop presence; extremely smooth and easy to drink. Very enjoyable.

from a bottle, cant see it, social surroundings prevent a glass.. smell is a little strong and volatile tho its rated at less than 5%. first taste is rather strong but does not go over the top. yes, wheat ale it is because it has very few if any hef attributes, fer sure. second taste reveals some ale attributes but i think i’m getting used to it now as i appraoch half bottle. can’t see much but what i do see thru the bottle is no sediment and it appears quite clear. sometimes i think i feel a tart thing hidden in there but it fades every time i look fer it. finish is a tad medicinal for a wheat, this definatly makes it an ale, slightly rude attributes and all. som e metal in theh end.

12oz Bottle pours out a dark cola colr topped with a sand head. Aroma was of sweet malts, roast, caramel, and some nuts. Taste was just as the aroma but with a little hop on it.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy and cloudy bright orange color with a nice 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some spotty lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of light caramel, toasted malt, honey, bread, herbal hops, and light orange zest. Aromas are pretty weak, but have decent balance for what is there. Taste of biscuit, caramel, orange zest, herbal hops, earth, honey, toasted malt, and biscuit. Good amount of herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, biscuit, light citrus, and toasted malt for a bit. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy mouthfeel with a bit of prickly carbonation. Fairly crisp on the finish. Alcohol is well hidden with almost no warming present on the finish. Easily drinkable and smooth as well at 6%. Overall this is an ok amber ale. Probably a bit too old, as I have no idea how long it has been sitting on the store shelf when I bought it a few months ago. Pretty drinkable though.

Wew, before I rate I see its 8%, now I’m biased. Sweet malty aroma. From a 12 oz brown bottle. Looks like a pretty dark beer in my iceland mug. Aftera few swigs, does not seem to be as high alky as I expected. Has a very nice quarter inch head that does not fade. Taste becomes a little medicine like as the session continues. Though malty, does not seem to be too much alky. I get along ok with this beer. It could be a little less caroub. Finish is just that, a finish; exactly what I want this weather to be. Like the other mount carmel beers I’ve had, on style and a little over the top in personality. I’ve got to say this is not over spiced like so many other winter beers I’ve had. Come on winter, lets get it over with.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating, but it is from 2011. Pours hazy brick red color with a nice 2 finger dense khaki head with incredible retention that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Spotty lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big ginger, cinnamon, caramel, nutmeg, honey, citrus, biscuit, and molasses. Fairly nice aromas with decent strength. Taste of big caramel, cinnamon, brown sugar, allspice, ginger, honey, light fruitiness, and herbal spice. Good amount of spices linger on the finish; with caramel, light fruits, cinnamon, ginger, and honey for a bit. Nice balance of flavor and spices here; turns out to be very smooth and drinkable, without being cloying. Alcohol is very well hidden for 8%, with only a slight warming after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a slightly creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Overall this is a very nice winter warmer. Plenty of spice character, yet still has nice malt balance.
