Established in 2005, Mt. Carmel reestablished Cincinnati's brewing frontier. Today, our extended family of brewers and neighbors continues to push it forward. 12 ounce bottle from Belmont Party Supply. So, some of the previous ratings slam this beer, but on the other hand I’ve had back to back solid to amazing beers from these guys and an initial whiff of this one is pleasant, so I have high hopes. Pours a clear amber color with a medium off-white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of caramel, toffee, toasted malts, grain, faint chocolate and fainter hops. The taste is bitter hops, fruity notes, caramel, grain. Medium bodied. The taste doesn’t measure up to the aroma but it’s still a nice beer.

12 ounce bottle from Belmont Party Supply. Pours nearly black with a thin brown head that fades quickly. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and espresso. The taste is roasted malts, rich coffee notes, caramel and a faint hoppy finish. Thin-medium bodied. Very tasty. I could drink this all day... and the next day. Never had these guys’ beers before tonight, but so far I’m impressed.

Initally this stuff comes across strong and rude like the rest of their beers; they are rated quite average in alky content but when you drink it it seems like a couple of points higher. Quite a personality up front. Malty alky thing sets in. Some creamy co2 saves this. Wew, I think I’m getting dizzy, no? Bitter medicine finish may appeal to some ipa lovers. Alky malty carob in some swigs.

12 ounce bottle, no freshness date. Pours hazy reddish brown color with a fairly dense 2 finger light khaki head with good retention that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap. Some nice lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of caramel, light chocolate, pine, spices, and floral notes. Decent aromas with nice strength as well. Taste of big caramel, chocolate, bread, molasses, nuttiness, spices, and honey. Lingering notes of light bitterness, spices, caramel, and molasses on the finish. Medium carbonation and body, with a very nice creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Extremely drinkable with no alcohol noticed at all, as expected for a brew of 4.5%. Overall definitely an excellent Scottish Ale, with a ton of well balanced flavor.

Smells ok. Looks nice in the glass, bubbling and all. Taste is strong, Somewhat medicinal cloying strong alky feel, mouth coating. Somewhat soapy. A amber with personality, certainly not dull. It seems North Peak Siren Amber, Olde Main Long Face & McKenzie Unicorn Amber Ale are much smoother than this.

Comes out of the bottle all hazy and such. Stronger sweet beery aroma. Looks quite viscous on the way out. Seems to be much more than 5%. Thichk on the tongue. Quite malty. Glad to have had the chance to taste this.
