Description
In 2014, Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan and Andrew Burman founded Other Half Brewing Company, a local brewery in New York City with a simple mission: to create beers that they wanted to drink from a company that they wanted to be a part of. Their vision was to build a passionate team that brewed great beers in the state of New York—done so with effort and thoughtfulness—to represent the “Other Half” of the industry. Today, Other Half craft beers in their Brooklyn brewery and are dedicated to collaborating with breweries both in New York as well as across the world in an effort to constantly move the industry forward while elevating the craft. The Other Half team believes that local breweries play an important role in their communities which is why they partner with these other likeminded brewers and brands in local nabes across the country and the world—but always return to their home state of New York and their Brooklyn taproom.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of chocolate notes with some cinnamon and sweet figs notes. Taste is also a mix of chocolate notes with some sweet figs notes and strong cinnamon notes. Body is full with an oily texture and good carbonation with no discernible alcohol notes. Cinnamon and residual sugar form figs are too dominant in this beer which end up lacking balance.

Aroma of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones with some tropical notes and a semi-dry finale. Taste is also a good mix of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones with tropical notes and a semi-dry finish. Body is full for style with good carbonation. Good double NEIPA but good use of Nelson hops.

Sampled from the tap at Bottle Theory. Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges quickly and completely. Aroma has earthy chocolate and roast with light pineapple and coconut coming through. Flavor is much more bright with pineapple, dark chocolate, dark grains and some barrel and coconut supporting.

Can from Stacks. Hazy yellow, stable, foamy, white head. Aroma of pineapple, peach, lychee, cheese, physalis, sweat, sweet onion, citrus rind. Taste has sweet pineapple, physalis & mandarin over bitter citrus pith in a biscuity malt body surrounded by dank sweet onion notes. Lots of floral hops in the finish, bitter citrus rind & onion. Medium body, fluffy texture, soft carbonation. Lovely juicy-dank brew.
