Clear, bright pink color. The nose to me back to picking freshing raspberries out of my grandparent’s garden and soaking them in water over the sink, this time though there was a touch of caramel in there. Superb. Light, acidic raspberry mouth that is very enjoyable. This is heading towards lambic territory, but then pulls back on sourness. Mouth feel is at times somewhat creamy. Chalky, raspberry finish. Very enjoyable.

Tap in Redoak - served absurdly cold, but barman advised to allow to warm for several minutes - so did this. Very dark brown with almost no head. Very complex aroma - clearly christmas pudding, but beyond that my nose cannot distinguish the individual aromas. The flavour is similar, but more complex still. Medium body with fairly lively carbonation. I really enjoyed this (but it was after three fruit beers). [Subsequently had a bottle and was similarly impressed, but perhaps a little less so.]

Tap at Redoak (180ml wine glass for $5!). Lurid red pink with very little pinky white head. Unpleasant sickly aroma with some fruit. Very lively carbonation. Very tart thin, but fruity flavour - could almost have been a dry sparkling wine with a dash of fruit cordial. This did not work for me.

Bottle. Reddy pink with light pink head. Subtle fruity aroma. Very lively carbonation. The taste was disappointing, it was all fruit and tartness with little else to balance it. It’s a refreshing and interesting fruit beer, but it didn’t work for me.

Bottle. Bright pink and clear with a pink tinted head - very distinctive. Lovely fruity (raspberry) aroma. Lively carbonation. Very nice fruit flavour, perhaps a little sour and without the balancing flavours in a true Belgian version. Not an everyday beer (unless you really like this style), but a distinctive and excellent fruit beer.

Tap at Redoak. Looks fine - nice colour and head. Nice hoppy aroma and good palate. A little too bitter for the my taste and I think for the style. But a nice beer and it is good to find a beer in Australia with this style and bravado.

Bottle. No head, dark reddish brown. Peaty, malty aroma. Oily mouthfeel with light carbonation. Taste dominated by dark roast malt and strong peat flavour. Hints of chocolate, toast, pears. Fairly bitter. Overall an interesting beer and well worth trying, but a bit unusual.

Bottle. Amber colour, with little head that does not linger. The aroma is distinctly smoky in a pleasant woody meaty way (not as intense and acrid as some german rauch bier). The flavour is pleasant, but not terribly special, or smoky. There is a woody taste that with the hops well balances the malt. The carbonation is quite fizzy. The smokiness reappears in the aftertaste. An enjoyable specialty beer.

Bottle. Reasonable head. Pale straw colour, hazy. Aroma and foretaste too sour, almost almost unpleasant. However after that settles to a more pleasant vanilla and malt taste with some banana / fruit notes which lingers reasonably well. Mouthfeel reasonable, but not great. Hefeweizen is not a favourite style of mine.

Bottle. I really enjoyed this - a great combination of stout and chocolate. Dark in colour with no head but quite lively carbonation at least in the mouth. The chocolate nose and taste was perhaps a little too subtle. However what there was, was excellent. It also well complemented the stout. Perhaps it could do with more maltiness, but the somewhat thin body and carbonation seemed to balance the richer aspects of chocolate and dark roast malt. The evolution from the initial smell, through fizzy and almost sharp first taste, through rich dark malt finally leaving a bitter chocolate aftertaste had me slowly savouring each mouthfull.
