Draught at the brewery during their closing party. Slight haze, amber colour. Thin head. Rich caramel, vanilla, toffee, and lots of bitterness.

Dullish, gloppy malt, overripe fruit. Moderate bitterness. Doesn’t express all that well.

12 oz. can, pours a lightly hazy copper dark orange with a medium white head. Nose has big resinous hops, citrus zest, some dankness, bitter pine, and chewy bready malt. Flavour is on the maltier side, but it’s got the hops to match, with big dank hops, orange peel, some orange marmalade, bitter citrus, pine, and some resins. There’s plenty of chewy, caramely, bready malt to back, but the big hop burst cuts down on the residual sweetness. Very nicely done.

On tap at Boundary Bay, pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is pretty dank, some bitter pine, and bitter citrus peel. Flavour is quite bitter, with bitter citrus peel, big piney hops, but not backed by a sturdy enough malt bill. Very bitter and nicely hopped. Good for what it is — will scare off all the hazy Neanderthals.

On tap at Boundary Bay, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma is not particularly Czech pils-like, with floral hops and crackery notes. Flavour is likewise not particularly Czech-like, with a soft floral hop character. There’s not much crispness in either the hops nor malt. It’s drinkable and clean but just not on style.
