200ml bottle. Slightly hazy brown/orange body with no head. Sweet alcoholic aroma with dry fruit, spices and honey. Flavor is dominated be sweetness. There is also some bitterness here but for me all nuances is drowning behind the dominating sweetness. I find this totally unbalanced and difficult to drink. 200ml bottle. Cloudy orange body with no head. Moderate sweet, alcoholic and honey aroma. Flavor is sweet honey and floral, not bad at all. This mead gives a warming alcoholic feeling and is not to dominated by honey. Maybe wrong for a mead to have this little honey flavor, but I prefer it this way. Thanx to Yngwie.

200ml bottle. Clear mahogany body with no head. Aroma is strong, sweet, herbal and alcohol. Flavor is sweet, quite alcoholic with honey and fruit/raisin. Thick and sweet body. As Yngwie mention there is some elements from beer here, thinking of strong beer like Samuel Adams Triple book. Interesting, but a 200ml bottle is plenty. 200ml bottle. 200ml bottle. Slightly hazy brown body with no head. Aroma is fruit, herbs and moderate alcohol. Flavor is sweet bitter, fruity, heather, herbs and honey. A bit sweet and sticky body, not too much honey here which I actually prefer this time. Interesting for a taste, but not my kind of elixir. Thanx to Yngwie.

Bottle. (trade w/papsoe) Pours a slightly hazy, deep golden body, and some bubbles on the top. It was not as oily as the other four meads I’ve had from Søbogaard. The nose is rather sweet, with alcohol and a spiceyness that didn’t suit me. I didn’t care to much for the flavor either, it has a spicyness that I don’t like, lacking a bit on the sweetness, and the alcohol is too evident. There’s also a note of wet cardboard in it. Quite watery for a mead as well. Definately the least interesting one from Søbogaard. Of those I’ve had, of course. (071019)

Bottle. (trade w/papsoe) Thick, oily pour, with an orange-golden color and no head. Almost clear. Quite sweetish and a bit honey-ish aroma, with a good dash of alcohol and some spices. Roses as well. Not too strong aroma, considering the ABV. It has a quite sweet flavor as well, evident alcohol, honey, heather and spices. Really warming. The flavor and warming feeling stays there for a long time. I find it too alcohol-dominated, but it is not a bad one, just a bit over-powered. (071019)

Bottle. (trade w/papsoe) A dark brown mead, clear, with no head or bubbles at all. The aroma is quite sweetish and heathery, with herbs and spices as well. Alcohol is also very evident. It is not as oily as the Vesterhavs Eliksir, but still rather thick. It is quite sweet and herb-tasting, especially heather, and the alcohol sure leaves it’s traces. There’s something beery-like in the finish that I don’t like, else it is quite nice. It is a cold day here in Norway now, and the sun is shining from a sky without clouds, but it is too late in the year for it to warm much, so the warming mead did good. (071018)

Bottle. (trade w/papsoe) Pours a bit hazy, brown body with no head at all. Oily. Quite a lot of alcohol in the aroma, along with berries, raspberry being the most evident, dried fruits and spices. Heather and honey in the far back. Vinous mouthfeel, quite low viscosity, some sweetness, lots of warming alcohol, berries, dried fruits, and spices in the background. The sweetness and warming feeling last for a long time. It takes some time to adapt to the flavors and aromas of this one, but after a while, it turns out to be a nice mead, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to drink a whole bottle. (071018)

(Bottle 25 cl) Clear, pale, amber golden. Has a fascinating, spicy nose - a little ginger in there perhaps. Full-bodied - but not heavy - very sugary and piquantly spiced with a warming alcohol glow in the finish. Quite nice. 071007

(Ceramic bottle 75 cl) Clear, warm, amber golden. Spicy, lightly herbal aroma with a distinct alcoholic touch. Full-bodied, sweetish and spicy but the honey presence is not eminent. Not really the most refined mead. 071007

(Ceramic bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy, pale amber - no head. Spicy, alcoholic nose. Very full-bodied and rather acidic fruit notes combined with pleasant honey notes. That tartness is really somewhat unusual but quite interesting. 180907
