Bottle from the Oike Yamaya. A crystal clear amber brown with a light filmy beige head. The nose is too yeasty & fruity some hints of DMS? Very malty grainy sweet flavor with a bit of a sort of off-centered quality to it. Ok but it could be better. Compared to the Double yeast this is great...

A 500ml bottle picked up at Beer Keyaki for just 500 yen! A good price, served in a footed pilsner glass it pours a clear light gold with a thick foamy head that looks creamy and leaves nice lacing behind. The nose is more apple juice than apple. A zesty light body with a sharp carbonation, a touch watery. The taste is apple and then crackery light malts, well balanced but I’d prefer more apple flavor. This looks better than my apple lager homebrew but I think mine had a better mouthfeel and more apple flavor. Decent beer though. This one didn’t have any noticeable off flavors.

Tap at 1020. Lemony, grassy nose. Decent malt flavors, prickly hops, light citrus. Crisp and nice but not super special.

Tap. Lovely blend of umami, chocolate, cream, and roasted malts. Coffee notes, nicely sweet and then roasty, delicious and well-balanced. Great.

5% on tap at Dig Bar. It pours a cloudy light straw gold with a thin filmy white head. A light fruity peach aroma wafts from the glass. Medium bodied with a mildly abrasive mouthfeel. The taste is bready crackery pilsner malts with a light peach flavor. Not bad, fairly clean tasting. Think a peachy pilsner, not bad.

Can direct from the brewery via rakuten, listed as Weizen not Weiss. A slightly cloudy straw gold pour with a foamy white head leaving behind fairly minimal lacing. The aroma is cloves & a butterscotch yeast quality to it. The taste is sweet, yeasty, light cloves and a mild buttery flavor. That buttery taste is diacetyl an off-flavor in a hefeweizen. It is an ok beer but not as good as the schwarz & pils which beat my expectations whereas this disappointed me.

Can. Part of a set ordered fom the brewery on Rakuten. Served in a glass beer mug. It pours a dark cola brown with a thick tan head. The aroma is roasty dark malts, dark bitter chocolate, soy & has a certain savoury quality to it. Medium-light bodied with a roasty chocolate flavor. Easy to drink with no off-flavors. Another solid beer from Gotemba Kogen.

Can direct from the brewery via Rakuten, just 11 days old. 5.5% served in a pilsner glass. It pours a crystal clear light gold with a thick white fluffy space. Earthy, grassy, light noble hop aroma. Nice smooth moothfeel on a light body. The taste is a refreshing crisp grassy flavor with light bitterness & mild crackery malt notes. A surprisingly nice pilsner that hits all the right notes with a great finish, it’s very refreshing with bang on a proper pils profile without any one thing overshadowing another. An impressive start to this tameshi set! Then again I wasn’t expecting much...

Tap at 1020. Rich fudge and chocolate nose, malty, meaty. dark brown with orange, low head is tight and fine. Rich and sweet malt flavor, fudge, raisin, bread. Solid but not quite great.
