330 ml bottle at a restaurant in the Brick Lane area. Black body with a thin beige head. Light, but nice aroma of roasted malt with hint of dark fruit. Flavor is moderate roasted malt, fruit, hint of liquorices and mild bitterness. Balanced body, smooth roasted aftertaste. A rather mild stout, quite refreshing and smooth. Not very complex, but well made.

Bittle at Cask Pub. Reddish colour. Earthy muddy with some sweetish malts. More if a red ale than a gilden. Decent citrus hops on finish. Interesting earthyness. Good though

Bottle at home in London. Pours dark brown with a foamy, beige head. Dry, roasted cocoa aroma, with notes of dirt, moss and burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor, baking cocoa, light grassy bitterness, nice roasted malts. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Some chalky, roasted malts in the finish, earth and grass, dirt, mild peat, baking cocoa, dark chocolate. Nicely balanced, easy-drinking stout. Good work.

Bottle at home in London. Pours dark, matte, amber-brown, somewhat hazy with a bubbly, off-white head. Aroma holds grass, pine, chocolate, nuts, toast and light caramel. Flavor is medium sweet with toasted malts bordering on roasted. There are nips of citrus, bread, caramel, cocoa and pine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes reasonably well balanced. There is a hint of grassy, abrasive bitterness, more toast, pine, and mild leaves. Some traces of nut linger. Actually, it is rather refreshing. The ’Gold’ in the title is something of a misnomer, but all in all it’s a nice beer.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, rich gold with a foamy, slightly off-white head. Bready malt aroma, nips of ripe citrus. Lightly sweet flavor with a decent offsetting bitterness. More bread, toast, light grass, some fruits, citrus and berries, mild caramel. Light to medium in body with fine to average carbonation. Crisp, clean finish with bits of resinous hops, toasty bread and toasty sugar, grass, faint pine and tangerine. This beer has everything I would want in this style. There is a slightly abrasive, grassy bitterness that lingers too heavily in the back of the throat, but otherwise no complaints. Well done.

Bottle at Kernel Brewery tasting. It pours cloudy amber, with a decent white head. The nose is floral, brown bread, toasted malt and light spice. The taste is toast, roasted malt, brown bread and honey, with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Ok, but nothing special.

Bottle shared by Scopey at the Kernel Brewery - cheers Paul! Hazy amber beer, tiny white head. Dry palate. Malty - tastes a bit raw. Trace of toffee. A little marmalade hops. Ok. Was expecting more from the US and NZ hops but it was alright. Original Rating 3.0.

A batch 2 bottle: Very hazy amber beer, short white head. Tangy blood orange and marmalade nose. Lightly crisp palate. Good carbonation. Nice hops with flavour following the nose. A little caramel malt underneath. Finishes semi dry. So much better than Batch 1. Very enjoyable and this new brewer now showing real promise.
