Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of bu11zeye. Pours a hazy yellow with a small, white head. Dry, fruity nose with some very flowery hops. Medium by, a very dry fruitiness with a slight touch of yeast. Great, flowery hops - bordering astringent. So much crisper and fresher than a typical Belgian blond. 221112

Bottle at the Funky 8, Brooklyn, NYC. A weird beer, and not in a good way. Dark, buttery bread. Dark sugars. Faint tang. Alcohol. Maybe some gooey caramel. Toasty malts. Just no real redeeming qualities to be found here.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy gold with a slight whiteish head. Aroma is mostly bubble gum! Med body. Flavor does have that bubble gum with some clove. Like a cross between a hefe and a Belgian. Very floral. Definitely bitter. It’s very unusual and quite tasty.

Bottle 909 of 10000. Pours with a very, very deep brown hued body with some red highlights. Large deep tan head lasts. Aromas of isoamyl acetate, brown sugar, alcohol, light leather. Quite boozy, persimmon, decent complexity, light clove and cardamom. Good yeast character. Flavors are malty, cola, clove, cardamom, somewhat rich vienna like toasted malt character. Dark fruit and mild phenol yeast character. Decently clean, but not exceptional. Nicely dry, medium boozy, medium low bitterness. Spiced, dry wine. Low but noticeable tannin. Low body, medium carbonation, pretty dry. One of the better bottled options, but the original draught options seemed a touch better.

Bottle number 6851 of the first batch (original label). Pours with a mostly clear, pale yellow hued body with a medium sized white head. Good retention. Aromas are a bit restrained yeast wise. Mostly bready malt, pils like, some floral and earthy hop character. Noble, spicy. Pretty light esters, low isoamyl acetate, a touch of bubblegum, candied kumquat. Phenols are moderate, peppery, sage, amplified by the hops. A slight hint of DMS as it warms. Smells dry. No chlorophenol which is always encouraging from a beer being produced in the 95112 area code. Flavors show a much larger amount of DMS. Quite bitter as well, medium peppery, grainy, bready, pils. Oddly slick, oily, and mineral laden mouthfeel. Lasting grassy, lightly astringent notes. Fruity pebbles. Hop character is nice and herbal. Medium bubble gum, low esters. Medium to slightly higher carbonation. carbonation. Some baked biscuit/muffin notes from the malt. Grainy and a bit chalky. Medium bodied, dry finish. I like this quite a bit less than B West’s initial two draught offerings.
