Description
The Belle-Vue brewery is a story of more than 100 years of craftsmanship. Philémon Vanden Stock started as a so-called ''gueuze steker'' as early as 1913: he buys lambic from local brewers and uses it to create "Gueuze". In 1927 he took over the Belle-Vue café in Anderlecht, which was also the start of the Belle-Vue brand. When he took over the Vos Kina brewery in Molenbeek in 1943, he changed its name to the "Belle-Vue" brewery. He transforms from a gueuze steker into brewer. Under the leadership of son Constant Vanden Stock, the brewery grows strongly, partly through numerous acquisitions in the 50s, 60s and 70s. In 1975, the brewery moves into the old site of the Timmermans brewery in Zuun (Sint-Pieters-Leeuw). Belle-Vue has been part of AB InBev since 1981. Within AB InBev, the Belle-Vue brewery also functions as a pilot brewery and plays an important role in the Belgian network.

Sampled at a blended product, 6 and 18 months old - served from a pitcher, obviously not refermented or anything. Fresh from the barrels. Pours very unclear, yellowblonde. Scent is sweaty, minthy somehow. Smells a bit off. Rotten vegetables. DMS ? Taste is tart, rotten vegetables. Sweaty, mild acidity, just poorly made to me. Honestly, the good part is the aftertaste, but the first taste (and aroma) is rather repulsive. Very malty, even a tad 'fresh' (minthy, somehow) Lacks acidity, balance, and a bareable scent. Fun to tick this one , but less fun to actually consume a glas of this.

From bottle. Intense dark cherry, slightly artificial, some vinegar, barrel, sugar, hints of funk and brett. Dry sourness, sugary sweetness. Medium bodied, watery texture, lively carbonated, dry sweet sugary sour finish. Okay for what it is.

250mL bottle from a shitty Luxembourg supermarket, pours a deep dark red with a large pink-tinged head. Aroma brings out tons of semi-artificial, very sweet cherries, plus a little acidity. Flavour is cloyingly sweet, with cloyingly sweet cherries, a somewhat artificial character, and minimal acidity. Cheap, supermarket, sugar faux-lambic. Barely drinkable.

Somethink special, rare and Old that oyster. Vintage 1999, bottle number: 03074. Poured into a Cantillon tasting glass and Lindemans gueuze glass.

750ml bottle, 2018 vintage. It pours clear straw yellow with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is zingy, tangy, cheap white wine, gooseberry, lemon - lime, sherbet, fizzy cola bottles, dry oak, funk, and damp barnyard. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, tart, puckering, some bracing acidity upfront, white wine vinegar, cheap white wine, fizzy cola bottles, tangfastics, sherbet, lemon - lime, gooseberry, dry oak and some funk with a dry, fairly short finish. Medium body and fine, fizzy carbonation. Not sure why some people hate on this so much, maybe the acidity? Pretty decent, but obviously not quite the old version.
