(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 8 May 2022) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with notes of apricots, peaches, pineapple and citrus. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, pineapple, soft malt and a balanced citric/herbal bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Juicy and tasty. Nice one.

Glass at Van Moll, hazy golden beer, small head. Aroma is guave, tart, citrus, floral. Taste is the same, guava, tart, light acidic, citrus, hops, floral, very nice.

Blik gedeeld door Roelzie, het is een troebel kastanjebruin bier met een beige schuim. Het heeft een aroma van kersen en melk chocolade. De smaak is chocolade achtig, zoet en fruitig met tonen van kersen.

Hazy deep amber beer with a small pale tan head. Nose of creamy malt and something vaguely rubbery. Smooth malts, thinner than I was expecting. Light creamy sweetness and a little caramel, modest rye tang. The red wine barrel comes through on the back end but doesn't dominate. And that's a problem for me - simple barleywines need bold barrelling. The barrelling needs to be the star. Ends up being neither one thing or another.

The last of this festival is also the last LCI. Quite heavy beast of a beer, feels like more than 11%. Barrel ageing is a bit stronger, but still pretty well balanced. Boozy, rich, malty, some dried fruit, and bourbon. Quite nice.
