Bottle from Isetan. Ginjo sake nose! Fruits, koji, lemon, pear, green apple, lovely. Nice and bright, deep orange, a bit cloudy, with lace and effervescence. Rich malt flavor, pears, apple, peaches, spicy koji like yeastiness. Crisp and quite clean, and relatively dry. It has sweetness but less sweet than most other beers of the time I have had. Great stuff.

First up on this sunny day: Nara Axis American-Belgian style ale 6% 30 IBU Lovely orange gold with an off-white head that lingers and leaves nice lacing behind. Floral hop bouquet with spicy white pepper and wheat notes. Medium bodied and crisp with zesty citrus, loads of spice and hops that deftly blend in. Nice stuff, very refreshing.

light hazy straw color. Nice grains of paradise, oranges and perfumy nose. Low carbonation, smooth body, nice orange and grains of paradise. Excellent.

Tap at Bungalow. Bright, clear gold with a low, fine head. Bright, crisp nose, citrus, minerals. Crisp and bright flavor, slight saison-like yeast funk, citrus, stone fruit. finishes very dry and crisp. Good stuff.

Nara Brewing Underwater Sake Yeast Beer 11.5% Matte brass with the tiniest film of foam and a rich stone fruit aroma. Full bodied with a bit of heat and a lush rich mouthfeel. Raisin bread pudding and smooth flavor that reminds me of Shimane’s Orochi series.

Tap at Takumiya. Bright gold, clear, with lace. Bright hop nose, citrus, minerals, stone fruits, tropical fruit, honey malts. Sweet and fruity, malty, honey, orange, mango, sweet plums. rich and silky body. Great fruit but slightly too sweet.

Tap at Crafthouse. Pretty deep brown with a thick, low head. Nose is caramel malt, hazelnuts, chocolate. Sweet and milky, tasty nuts and caramel. A bit too sweet for my taste, but a well made low abv winter beer.

beautiful deep golden color. Massive frothy white head. Guava, mangos and citrus hop character and modest Brett character. Big carbonation, good hop character, modestly aggressive bitterness, nice brett character. Super well balanced. Medium body. Fantastic

hazy brown color. Slightly sweet nose with nuts, earth wood and lactose notes. Surprisingly heavy malty palate. A bit too full bodied for 4%. But not bad.

deep golden color. Frothy white head. Peaches and citrus notes. Semi-dry hoppy palate. Mildly funky, smooth palate. Medium full body. Medium low carbonation. Not bad but not great.
