Bottle from Beergium. Slow gusher. Black, small beige head. Aroma has roast, cocoa, some tobacco and a clear sourish note, kind of fruity, no signs of the dry hopping. Sweetish flavour, slightly roasted with some cocoa/choc, but then again this fruity sourish thing. Really don't think this is supposed to be like this... Some vinous notes in the finish, certainly not like a common impy.

33cl bottle. A clear golden beer with a off-white head. Aroma of mild resinous hops, spruce, caramelized malt. Taste of mild resinous hops, reddish malt, some caramel, grapefruit, moderate to long bitter finish.

Wheat beer by NovaBirra, apparently already in existence for two years. Inches thick head building up very quickly so pour this one as slowly as possible, very creamy in texture, yellowish egg-white, dense, regular and plaster-like lacing; cloudy, warm orange-hued peach blonde robe. Aroma of freshly cut sweet red apples, fresh camomile, sugar loaf, caramel candy, straw bales, grapefruit zest, dried lemonbalm, brown soap, kumquat jam, subtler hints of green tea, cloves, banana (though not nearly as strong as it should have been in any Weissbier), very vague background whiff of cooked potatoes. Soft, estery-fruity onset, freshly cut apple and pear again but hints of dried apricot and green banana too, yet no clear 'Weissbier' banana ester, sweetish with a sourish edge, quite softly carbonated (for any wheat beer, really), with a soft, fluffy mouthfeel, edged by very clear wheat soapiness and sourishness; the barley malts add a bready quality, but also - the Vienna I guess - something nutty and biscuit-like, but in a very thin, vague way. Fruity notes and a dash of spicy phenols (clove) accompany a relatively hoppy finish, for any Weissbier at least, with gently 'spreading', floral and herbal bitterness as well as retronasal notes of dried citrus peel, kitchen herbs and field flowers. The finish remains however altogether soft, malty and fruity, with lingering wheat soapiness as well as an earthy yeasty touch and something vaguely metallic. Not a bad beer at all, very easygoing and highly drinkable (I assume in larger quantities as well since it will not become immediately boring), but it is difficult to see a 'Hefeweizen' in it - the way it was apparently intended. This has very little - if anything - to do with the old Bavarian Hefeweizen tradition, even if wheat malt is used rather than the unmalted wheat that typifies Belgian witbier; I would rather classify this one simply as a blonde Belgian ale that just happens to contain a lot of wheat malt (even if this wheat part is very pronounced, as described above) and a slightly more hop-forward profile than is usually the case. Passes, but I guess I was silently hoping for a 'real' Hefeweizen after all since I love me a good Hefeweizen when done right - so I cannot but deduct a point for failing at the 'true to style' criterion...

Pours unclear, darker amber. Smell is boozy, butter. Taste is medium fullbodied, boozy (barrel) , no butter here. Decent. Heavy. A sipper. Lower carbonation.

Little cloudy amber to dark blond beer, small creamy white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of whisky, oxidized, bit fruity, alcohol, decent. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: alcohol, very oxidized, more alcohol, bit sugary, whisky. Aftertaste: bit sourish, lots of alcohol, fruity touch, very oxidized.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, dark amber colour with small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Yeasty fruity and fruity hoppy, slightly bready, malty aroma, notes of berries of all kinds, some apricot, peach, mirabelle, sweet-ish malty hints of loaf, a touch of honey. Taste is slightly dry, yeasty and hoppy fruity, sweet-ish pale and caramel malty, notes of apricot, mirabelle, peach, hints of honey, loaf, yellow and red berries, some hop bitterness, hints of dried fruit as well. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, prickly carbonation. Rather clean yeasty fruity notes, a nicely hopped, updated interpretation of a Triple - good.

Bottle at Le Bier Circus, Brussels on 10th January 2020. Pours dark reddish-brown with thick off-white foam and pattern lacing. Roasty malts, forest fruits and pungent earthiness in aroma. Spicy roast malts in-mouth, with a finish of roast maltiness and tangy fruits. A smooth texture, with plenty of body.
