At Zest Fest though I think it may be a different beer as this was made with Columbus grown in Yosano. Kyoto Machiya Yosano Fresh Hop Pale Ale 5% 51 IBU Clear gold with a grassy herbal hop aroma, I can’t really believe it is 51 IBU to be honest. The light to medium bodied is actually like a decently hopped fresh lager or golden ale. I drank it pretty fast. Not outstanding but solid. 3.5 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Zest Oike Festival. Rice is big in the nose, light lemon and some cherry. Lemony hop flavor with toasty rice. the rice is sued well and is well apparant. Nice hops. Interesting.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks mom for this bottle! Amber. Caramel, malt, a bit fruity, a bit of candy, sweetish, a bit of oxidation, a bit nutty, a bit of toast, slightly bitterish finish, medium-bodied.

Tap at SVB Kyoto. Again, pale gold with haze, but a higher head. Nose is bland--grains, rice, light herb, touch of lemon. Fruity, thin, lightly peppery, rather strong bitterness than turns a bit funky and astringent. Hops give little flavor but lots of roughness. Light and thin.

Tap at Kyoto Craft Beer Garden 2017 in Kitaoji Vivre. 500¥ for 380ml. Made with Japan grown Tettnang hops I believe. Definitely a bright gold with a filmy white head. The aroma is zesty lemon and herbal hops but more like a decomposing forest floor - interesting but not super appetizing. Light bodied and very zesty but unfortunately lots of cardboard and not such a nice overall flavor.

On tap at 336, 450ml for the absurd price of 1000 yen. golden color almost clear thin fine white head good lacing. Aroma is grainy lots of rice and cereals and quite strong bittering hops background. Carbonated m medium body, long extra dry finish a bit sour quite bitter and after all well structured but more lacking the flavors of American IPAs, otherwise good but not exactly worth this price.

Poured from the tap at Beer House Jive. Golden yellow with white head. Bready wheat malt, citrusy lemon hops, a little astringent, balance seems slightly off.

Bottle. Brown with a pale beige head. Aroma of toffee, rye bread crusts, some spices. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Bready and a bit earthy with light spices and a pretty dry finish with quite firm bitterness. Not bad.

Taster at Aburacho. Rich rice nose, light peaches and esters. Flavor is again mostly rice, with a touch of vanilla. Crisp and summer junmai, but can’t stand up to the more fragrant other summer sakes.
