Tap at IBREW Ginza. Poured a crystal clear light golden colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, cardboard, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a light, grainy, watery light hop palate. Light bodied with average carbonation.

Tap at Bungalow. Yokohama Bay Brewing Piledriver Double IPA 7.5% Looking at reviews online that slagged this beer I almost didn’t order it but then I saw they were from 2016 and more recent reviews on a different site were much better so it looks like after 2 years they’ve started to get this beer right. Cloudy honey gold with a a really fresh citrusy hop bouquet with dank highlights around the edges. Quite full bodied with a slightly slick but smooth mouthfeel. The taste is old skool IPA, dank piney resinous with light citrus. It’s not amazing but it is a solid clean well made Double IPA in the classic bitter piney mold that is worth trying, especially if you like bitter brews/are a hop head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

hazy amber brown color. Nice citrusy nose. Slightly astringent, minty, grapefruits, light malt backbone. Fairly aggressive bitterness. Again not overly complex, but pretty damn quaffable for the abv.

hazy amber color. The nose is brimming with hops, cotton candy, grapefruits sit on top of a slight sweetness. Slightly sweet malt backbone, modest hops with tons of grapefruit. Towards a PNW brew but a bit less malty. Perfectly acceptable IPA but doesn't get me excited

Tap at bungalow a red-orange pour with an off-white creamy looking head of foam. Fruity woodsy and earthy grape has me thinking this is hopped with a mix of noble and New Zealand hops. Medium bodied, smooth and balanced. A solid low-key double IPA.

Tap at the former brewpub. Deep hazy amber with lace. Nose of pine, oranges, caramel. Resiny, sweet, citrus flavor. A bit of rough bitterness in the finish, otherwise a good classic-style W-IPA.

Golden color. Oily (good description from Neil) and floral nose. Malty sweetness creeps in. Sweetish body with modest bitterness. Feels a bit over attenuated. Pretty middle of the road

I never thought in a million years I could rate craft beer at a Japanese baseball game, but I am here in Yokohama watching the Baystars on a perfect mid-June evening with friends and enjoying Baystars Lager. Big frothy white head, deep golden color. Nice cereal malts jump from the nose with modest grassiness. Very clean, dry, moderately aggressive bitterness with some fruitiness in the mouth. super well balanced with lots of cereal malts. Lovely.

Keg at the brewpub. Pours black with a creamy, khaki head. Ashy roast in the nose, some dry cocoa, old coffee. Light sweet flavour with some burnt malts, a little rubbery ash, some bittersweet cocoa, scorched earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Finishes with more ashy roast, earthy bitterness, light astringent coffee, woody dryness. Decent stuff.

Keg at the brewpub. Pours clear gold with a creamy topping. The nose has some pithy citrus, minerals, dried pine. Light-medium sweet flavour with sturdy piney and grassy bitterness, subtly toasted pale malts, further flinty minerality, dried orange rind. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more assertive grassy hops, some husky pale grains. Not bad overall.
