355ml can. Pours a clear gold with a medium, frothy, long lasting, white head that leaves curtains of lace. Aroma of biscuit malt, lemon and floral hops. Sweet flavour of grainy pale malt, orange peel and resin in a crisp, dry, mild bitter, grassy hop finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Refreshing and crushable.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy pale gold with a medium, foamy, short lived, white head that laces. Mild fruity aroma of bready wheat malt, strawberry and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready wheat malt, passionfruit, strawberry and floral hops in a dry, slightly tart finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Refreshing and crushable, but slightly disappointing. Tastes like an understated fruit beer trying to be a sour.

Dark brown, served a bit too cold, bubbly head. Aroma has lots of bourbon and toffee. On the palate, same but the bourbon expression is pretty cool - vanilla, tannins, coffee, toffee. Some alcohol in there. Just lots going on here. 3 7 8 4 15

500ml @ Ryan's. Appearance: very dark copper with a beige head. Aroma: plums and other dark fruits along with dark sugars as described, quite sweet. Taste: along the same lines, esters, lots of Belgian yeasts. Overall: ok overall, but it's good for the style.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of dark brown sugar, dark stone fruits, and some slightly estery Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out some slightly smoky leather, with subdued estery notes, burnt dark sugars, and a touch of plum. Lightly boozy, leathery, and gently burnt sugary. Very nice.

On tap at The Magnet, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a pleasant bourbon character that dominates, with moderate roast and a bit of cocoa underneath. Flavour is big and barrel-heavy, with lots of bourbon dominating, dark cocoa, medium roast, and a touch of alcohol. Big and bold, but not brutal, showcasing the best of these barrels. Expertly done.

Re-rate: Poured from 355mL can (side by side with Knob Creek and Basil Hayden variants; date stamped April 14, 2021). Dark brown with small beige head. Bourbon integrates with the rest of the beer better than the other two variants. On par with Knob Creek. Oct 05, 2022 (8/3/8/3/16=3.8): Poured from the tap @ The Magnet. Dark brown with minimal beige head. Raisin, molasses, bourbon, touch of wood and roast. I like it a touch more than the Basil Hayden version, but still slightly unbalanced.
