A murky dark amber ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, loads of strawberry, light acidity, light mineral notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with strawberry pulp, light tropical fruits, very faint rhubarb. On tap at brewery.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear coper with moderate head. Aromas of marmalade, tangerines, pine resin, a bit of stoned fruit, and bready malts. Flavors of pine, grapefuit, orange rind, spicy resin and biscuity malts. Sharp and dank

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Beautiful amber colour, bright, clean, with medium sized compact head. Mild aroma of caramel and fruit spirit. Moderately sweet, lean, some caramel flavour, not much alcohol feeling, clean but with no much complexity.

Amber, bright, no head. Has some intense brandy character, sticky caramel, and some alcohol in the finish. Not particularly refined.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear copper with minimal white head. Some caramel, hint of perfume, bit of alcohol. Not much depth, a little harsh.

22oz @ Matt's parents' place with a scenic view that was hidden by curtains this time. Appearance: almost clear copper with a white head. Aroma: sweet, apples, some caramel, barrel. Taste: moderately sweet, brandy, woody, finishes with hoppy bitterness. Overall: kinda harsh and not nicely balanced.

650mL bottle, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Nose is full of hot perfumey notes, light brandy, alcohol, and caramel. Flavour is quite hot, with gentle brandy barrels, alcohol, a bit of boiled vegetables, and red fruit. Not elegant, not very well-integrated and quite hot, but it's not disastrous. Decent effort.

473mL can, pours a clear dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma is full of bready malt upfront, with a touch of toasted caramel. Flavour is on the dry side for a scotch ale, with lots of bready malt, gentle toasted caramel, and toasted nuts. Dry, malty, nutty mouthfeel, with lots of bready caramel. Decent, but I want a richer, maltier character from this style.

473mL can, pours a cloudy bright orange amber with a medium white head. Nose is full of spicy and citrus hops, with plenty of resins, orange peel, and bready caramel malt. Flavour is much along the same lines, with bitter, spicy hops, bitter orange peel, a touch of resins, gentle esters, and toasted caramel malt. A bit too estery, and a bit too harshly bitter, but pleasant enough. Okay.
