Edge Brewing is an award winning and pioneering craft brewery in the city of Barcelona and is very active in festivals and events relating to the craft beer movement.

Aroma has strong licorice tones. Also some coffee tones. Flavour has salty licorice, red wine tones, coffee and ash. Also salmiac. Nice and easy to drink. Perhaps a bit straightforward though.

Pours pitch black with a tiny head. Aroma of roasty malts, oak, wood, vinous berries, raisins and syrup. Taste is smooth, roasty and complex with some vinous notes, wood, hints of raisins and ripe berries. Finish is smooth, vinous and slightly roasty with some bitterness, hints of berries and syrup. Interesting. Not your typical imperial stout.

Pours reddish brown with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, coffee, chocolate, mild hints of berries. Taste is smooth, roasty and bitter with loads of coffee, some chocolate and hints of berries. Finish is smooth and roasty with loads of coffee. Pretty balanced and tasty.

Draught @ Gallows Bird. Aroma has coffee, truffles and dark chocolate. Flavour has strong coffee notes, ash, licorice and dark chocolate. Pleasant, although a bit too dry. Reminds me of Meantime Coffee.

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Edge Brewing Hoptimista IPA - Cascade ].[ Trade by Saxo ]. Clear medium to dark amber orange color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dusty malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, grass, orange - citrus, licorice hop notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, licorice hops, grapefruit, citrus, caramel, light wood. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150120]

Draught @ Ølhus Stockholm. Aroma has minerals, biscuits and some bready malt. Feels English. Flavour has minerals, bready malt, some orange and toffee. Finishes with grapefruit. Feels rather dry. Too dry, actually.

(Keg at William K Kurvi, 20150304) The beer poured very dark brown. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had pine, grass and burnt malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, fruitiness, sweetness, pine and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. Too burnt.

Takeaway from the hanging bat. Pours hazy gold, thin white head. Bread, yeast, light spice. Light sweet taste, some orange. Dry finish.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Hazy orange body with a thin white head that quickly fades. Lively fizz. No lacing. Aroma of tangerine and white pepper. Flavour of juicy orange, lime zest and a hint of spice to finish. Medium body with an oily texture. Very fizzy.
