375ml bottle from the cidery. Rubber cork. Low-ball glass @ home. I supposedly have serviceberries in the backyard I'm told, but I can't find them. Probably under the Kudzu. Settled, clear, dark gold. Sentiment will come. Very pungent, rose & apple berry nose. Dry, twangy, slightly wild apple. Rosewater & some sort of grape floral combo. Just a pinch vinegary sour, with old yeast in the backdrop. Second, now hazy pour gives off more Sidra vibes, more twang, some lemon, less berry. Apples are very earthy in addition to a serious buildup of acid in my belly. Accidental pip of carbonation. Less than slick. Okay. Would have liked to try filtered version.

Can from Appalachian. NB goblet @ home. Opaque, watermelon & peach brew. Smells light of cherry skins, wild fermentations & residual yeast. Taste is Sidra twang with strawberry, apple, cherry & doughy yeast. Lingering acid. Some light fructose sweetness. Carbonation is medium low. Yeasty feel. Okay.

Bottle delivery. NB goblet @ home. Lightly hazed pale gold, weak bubbles. Creamy, acidic, green apples. Taste is big on pineapple juice. Yeast, prickly, lingering, half tart apples. Light sweet onion. Salt. Again, very pineapple-y. Demi-sec, still, but some bonus unintentional bubbles. Not quite thin, but things out. New to this apple breed. Okay.

Bottle delivery from the cidery. NB goblet @ home. Slightly hazy, strawberry rosé-colored brew. Veggie, clay, apple skin, peppery cherry skin. Taste is veggie, doughy yeast, acidic apples, lightly tart cherry skin flavor that lingers. All of this is dry. Carbonation is okay, body is thin but with lots of residual yeast. A bit too veggie but not bad.

Can from the source. NB goblet @ home. Pale, slightly hazed gold pour. Smells of Sidra twang, bubblegum, salt water, oil, faint peppers. Creamy, twangy sour apples, gum, cayenne heat, oily texture, light carbonation, maybe a 7+ on lingering spice if you're not use to it. Fun. Better cider for a spicy variety than Urban Orchard's base, but they bring more. Fun.

Bottle delivered from the cidery. NB glass @ home. Mostly clear, pale gold pour. Unfiltered & well settled till the last few dregs. Fume-y, banana/citrus/apple, sweet rice & grass scent. Taste is acidic, faint pineapple/apple blend, yeasty, dusty, paw-paw creamy, seltzer-ish, mineral finish. Interesting development from what I thought was an mostly uninteresting apple. Looking forward to the other barrels.

Bottle from the brewer. Duvel glass @ home. Chill-hazed, dull yellow gold body, light soapy spritz. Smell is bubble gum, kernal corn, salt, lemon, minerals. Taste is weird. Big alkaline & gum mix upfront, with a dry, floral white concord middle(muscadet grapes maybe). End pushes big acid & asprin bitterness that lingers. Mostly dry, feeling a little soapy & lather-ish early on, getting a touch chalky when flatter. Bold, but could use some tweaks.

Growler from Appalachian. Almost walked out with a 375ml bottle for $11, but they shocked me with a 64oz growler fill for $20. So, goblet @ home it is. Murky-colored brew, somewhere less than Orangina & more than a lemon drop candy. Some spritzy, rushing head, but my glass didn't do it any favors. Better than a tumbler for aroma, though excellent for that eye-opening 11am mimosa. Scent is tart apricot skin, honey lemon tea, with a little arid apple backsplash. Taste is bitter & rindy apple, tart lemon, cork, dried>fresh apricot, yeasty finish, plus a little more booze than I was expecting. Body maintained a thinner than expected feel, carbonation died quickly but was good initially, very easy to quaff, with middling acid that was very pleasant. Overall, very good & a promising vote for a brand that keeps surprising me. Being able to do a growler of this for a reasonable price was a plus. Certainly some of the best ciders I've have south of Virginia.
