Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is dark, dark brown, no discernible sparkle, finger-width light brown head with lacing. Aroma is toasted malts/bread. Taste is toast, biscuit, with bitterness toward the end. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with soft carbonation and mix of rich toast and nuts with bitter and dry finish. Overall, a fairly standard brown ale in a taster pour (but late in the day of a beer festival so probably worth another try).

Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is cloudy light brown/dark yellow with no sparkle, thumb-width of off-white foamy head. Aroma is little bit of tropical fruit, citrus, rye. Taste is sweet with odd mix of light tropical fruit, but stronger fruit--apple or sour apple or peach flavor--citrus, definitely some danky bitter in there too. Palate is light bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation and lightly sweet taste at the finish but an arid, bitter feeling. Overall, some strange things going on with the taste and the palate that create interest but not all of it to the good.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane’s Beer and Wine. Appearance is cloudy with fine, dark particulates, minimal sparkle, 1.5-finger width foamy white head with poor retention and some soapy lacing. Aroma is orange and lemony citrus with pineapple, light resin over malt base. Taste is sweet orange and lemon with bitter resin back half. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, foamy texture, soft carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, the aroma steals the show. The taste is good but doesn’t deliver on all the breadth of the aroma and the bitter profile is stronger than I’d prefer.

Served on Nitro at N.E. Tap House Grille Deep brown color with a rich finely bubbled off white head that persists forever. Big caramel and butterscotch on the nose with some faint earthy hops. Flavor is more of the same, glad I only got 4 oz of this, MEH

12 oz. can. Marked "make12ozcansgreatagain" 4/6/17. Slightly hazy yellow, thin spotty lacing. The aroma and flavor are a reflection of each other. I wonder what type of yeast they use in this brew?

It shows Belgian and German yeast characteristics. Light pepper, mild straw and light banana/ clove like hints. Body is lighter was a nice yeasty presence that lingers after the sip. I liked it.

Draft 6 oz. sample at The Flight Center, Nashua. Dark amber that show some clarity. Aroma is nice, plums, rasinis, English ale yeast, oak.

The base barley wine is nice. The oak helps enhance the experience. The oak is subtle and adds to the dark fruit depth. The bartender told me this keg was aged. And that makes sense because the alcohol is totally hidden. Real nice brew!

Tap at New England Taphouse Dark brown with great clarity and a thin off white head that persists. Citrus and earth on the nose with bits of roasty bready and light chocolate. Flavor follows the aroma quite well and adds a hint of caramel. Pretty tasty beer.
