Draft at Le Saint-Bock, Montreal. Pours cloudy gold with a creamy white head. Fruity and floral aroma. Taste is peach, citrus notes, yeast, coriander, spice, white pepper, fruit. Nice.

Canned. Mahogany colour, small head. Dark bread, caramelized sugar, butter and dark cherries up front. Mid sweet with medium-full body and rounded, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Cherries, buttery, bready malt, brandy and notes of wood. Lightly peppery finish with some bitterness. A really good Scotch Ale, but doesn’t provide that ultra silky, deep mouthfeel that would make it stellar.

Can from 7-11 Kittery Slightly hazy light golden color with a huge bubbly off white head that persists. Plenty of old school citrus and pine on the nose with a bready light toasty caramel maltiness. Taste follows the aroma quite well but adds a bits of light grass and a creamy mouthfeel. Pretty solid IPA.

A: Hazy straw yellow, small but persistent head of foam, minimal lacing.

S: Banana, clove, wheat yeast.

T: MIX of cloves banana and wheat. I’m thinking, this fits.

M: Kind of thin bodied but not out of the realm of the style.

O: An ok example of the style but not an exemplary example. Glad to try it.

South Burlington branch can.

A: Cloudy rust colour, off white foam is thick and leaves loads of lacing behind.

S: Mix of lemony hops and heaps of caramel and grainy malt.

T: Grain, caramel malt dominate with the lemon tasting hops playing second fiddle. Like it should be for the style.

M: Creaminess gives the impression of full bodied.

O: Well crafted Bitter. More of these in the US required!

Can: Poured a deep brown color bock with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep caramelized malt with load of residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of caramelized malt with heavy residual sugar and grainy notes in the aftertaste. Body is full with medium carbonation. Very heavy for the style with way too much residual sugar and unrefined malt bill.

This was poured into a thistle.
The appearance was a ruddy burnt dark brown color with a good finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a good pace. No lacing.
The aroma takes a thick sweet peaty to smoky arrangement of sweet to a nice maltiness. Tea structures itself nicely in and around.
The flavor leans sweet and then packs in the full peaty/smoky to tea smoothness blending nicely over my tastebuds. Smooth sweet tea/peaty aftertaste. Sly tea structured finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. Spectacular smoothness.
Overall, spectacular scotch ale that I would love to have again, definitely an ice fishing beer out of the can.

Leighton’s flat clearance. Thanks to Leighton. Light haze on this gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, dry but with a light creamy sweetness. Hop skunk and pine, a little hop spice. Good resinous citric peel, bitterish. Dry pithy bitterness into a touch of tropical fruits. Decent.
