Second bitter of the night. Purchased at Métro Plus in St-Jerome, QC. Pours a clean golden colour with a slight amber hue and very limited particles. Huge frothy warm cap, long lasting with fluffy-bubbly lacing. Caramel malt aromas with some hops and even notes of hay. The hops are mild, but keeps the sweetness away from the caramel malts. Again, grassy hay notes. Heavy carbonation, good bitterness. Goes down well and better than the Le Corsaire Bristol bitter I just had.

Can: Poured a golden color pilsner with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of dry hoppy notes with a sweet malty base. Taste is also dominated by cereal base with quite a bit of residual sugar and a dry hoppy finish. Fruity ester notes are also noticeable. Body is about full for style with good carbonation. Not bad but a bit too much residual sugar for my own taste buds.

Can: Poured a clear bright yellow color ale le with a large foamy head with excellent retention and some lacing. Aroma of fruity ester with some light sweet Belgian style malt. Taste is a mix of fruity ester with a lightly sweet malt backbone with some bready yeasty notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. A bit short on the complexity side but still quiet enjoyable.

Explodes upon opening, but fades fairly quickly. Deep copper and light brown coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of caramel, grain and very light hops - not much there. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and very herbal spicey hops showing with some noticeable alcohol, a touch of herbs and hop bitterness and even a bitter dark alcohol flavour as well. Aftertaste is fairly one-dimensional with the alcohol, spicey malt and deep pungent hop bitterness coming through - with no real respite. Overall, an interesting IPA with more of an English twist, but deep, pungent and strong means its not too enjoyable. I sampled this 473 mL can purchased from Marche Des Sauveurs in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 20-September-2014 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-November-2014.

Super carbonated and frothy - glad I didn’t age this at all; It would have exploded the can. Hazy golden coloured body with at least a 10 centimetre tall frothy golden tan head. Aroma of bright citrus and slightly piney hops with some subdued malt and the lightest bit of citrus sugars. Light-bodied; Strong assertive hops up front with a decidedly grassy and floral flavour with hints of the citrus and alcohol and a nice light belgian yeast flavour to finish it off. Aftertaste was surprisingly nice, especially considering the amount of refermentation in the can on this one; The complexity is there, the herbal and grassy hop notes are there and the yeast kick is there - this is much more complex than what I would think of as a summer pale, but that’s because summer in Quebec isn’t too hot and debilitating as it would be in the USA. A hazed blonde Triple with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet grainy malt with light chalky character, unpleasant and weird. In mouth, a weird grainy malt with light fruity notes, solvent notes, orange pulp, wet grass, boiled corn unpleasant. On tap at Noire et Blanche.

Served in a Duvel glass. A cloudy orange-gold. A clean bitter biscuit aroma. A really tasty bready, biscuit, pine needle flavor. Fairly full bodied with a clean satisfying taste.

Can: Poured a clear golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of clean cereal taste with light lingering sweet notes. Taste is a good mix between clean cereal notes and some light sweet final. Body is average for style with good carbonation. Nothing extremely exotic but well brewed golden ale.
