Sample during the "Beer And Food Pairing" hosted by rogueone on 02/21/2016, paired with glazed apple tart with bourbon cookie dough crust. Bottle #771/1000 batch #12. The beer is a clear dark amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that dissipates steadily to a sparse outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, fruit and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, oak, ripe fruit and earthy hops. The finish is fruity and boozy with a malty aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

As soon as the wax was opened, the bottle squirted everywhere and exploded all over the place. However, two minutes later, the pour didn’t show much carbonation at all! Very nice, crisp copper and amber body with a very nice ruby glow an da thinnish tan head that fades fast. Aroma of alcohol, pit fruits, caramel, earth, toffee, citrus and a little nuttiness. Medium-bodied; Strong earthy flavour with a lot of sweetness, peat and a robust honey and pit fruit/raisin flavour. Aftertaste shows a bit of the alcohol seeping through with a lot of grain, peat, nuts and earth and a shadow of the citrus. Overall, a very interesting barley wine that explodes upon opening the wax then seemingly has no carbonation. Then, the flavour shows things different than the aroma and the finish is relatively what you’d expect. Good to try and somewhat mellow after the year+, but I’m happy that I opened it when I did, otherwise, I’d probably have an exploding bottle on my hands! If you have one of these, it’s probably best to open it not too long after a year! I sampled this 65 cL wax topped bottle purchased from Small Batch Liqours in Denver, Colorado on 08-June-2014 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington after hearing the Strokes at the Landmark Music Festival during a 15m run - on 27-September-2015.

Draft. Golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of spices, clove, lime, citrus, lemon, straw. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The lime juice dominated the taste and was at odds with the spice and hop flavors. The Bud Light Lime of saisons.
