750mL 2016 bottle shared by AFH on 9/22/17, thanks!
Good clarity in this lemonskin-bronze-golden beer. White head atop is initially large and slowly falls to cover.
Strong sherry and raisin character in the nose belies the Chardonnay, though there's a touch of grape-like acidity. Plentiful base malt adds rich honey, white bread and light caramel, balancing both wood and wine characteristics. It's quite aromatic and there's a good deal of barrel character, but it never feels hugely oaky/buttery but rather persistently sherry-like. Maybe a slight touch of alcohol/estery heat, but pretty well-concealed. Belgian yeast character adds light clove and hints of soft banana without any obnoxious bubble gum or dominant banana-clove.
Very soft with a round, malty, wood tannin-heavy texture that still has a good deal of sugar, though I would still call it properly attenuated. The residual sweetness is quite welcome, balancing the big grape acidity and oak dryness. Phenols are minimized, tacky ones anyways, with a touch of warmth on the end, but no big alcohol or sharp ester notes. Raisin, caramel, vanilla and oak linger long. Pretty strong on the barrel character here, but the notes themselves are quite interesting and refined, so it's much less of a problem than it would otherwise be.

Draft. A- Lemon pez, floral. A- Yellow color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Floral, lemon, mild sweetness. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- They call this an old world German style. It is unique without a question. Can't compare it really to anything. Flavors I can't quite get that can only be coming from the wild native plants. Refreshing and tasty though.

750 ml bottle from the source. Slightly hazy golden, fast dying head. Aroma is buttery Chardonnay, mild sherry hints. The flavor is comprised of mild yeast with a nice barrel character. Mild sherry like hints, maybe old peaches, light oak. Very mild apricot. Alcohol is hidden. Really interesting and tasty.

Draft at Local Beer, Patio, Beer, Omaha. Aroma is dark malt, caramel, dried fruits, raisins, chocolate, and yeast. Flavor is moderate to medium sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium/ leans on thin. A very Belgian style Stout, like a blend of Stout and Belgian strong dark ale notes. ABV comes out of little bit
