The vast and delicious cuisines of Central and South America hold a treasure trove of flavors, aromas and textures, much of which feels right at home in a well-made beer. We combine these ingredients and ideas with our own experiences to make subtle and deeply delicious beers, not mere novelty items. Each beer speaks with our voice and adds to the story. We put the best ingredients together so that the whole beer adds up to much more than the sum of its parts.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2015. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has good amount of roasted malts and dark grains with a bit of sweetness underlying and a coffee bite. Flavor bring the coffee out more with roasted malts and a bit of sweet dark grains.

On draught at House Beer. Pours a hazy pale amber color with a medium thin white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma wheat, fruit and herbs. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal wheat, pithy citrus and grainy malt. The finish is semi-sweet with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

RATING #2900! I could start making claims about this being the gateway beer for people with more money than beer sense, who’ll pay $3,000 for a bottle of wine but just have a light beer. But since I don’t know that for sure, or whether the staff at Trump Plaza’s bar actually has a well-curated beer menu as well, so I should just look at the beer itself. The description on the Cellar Door beer list called it "A nice, light golden ale," at 4.8% alcohol by volume. That led me to suspect this might be a lighter version of their flagship 5 Rabbit 5 Rabbit. The lighter alcohol would be the mark of a "gateway" beer to be served where people might not be that adventurous. My pour, into a standard shaker glass, showed a hazy, lightly filtered yellow beer under a thin, but stubborn head (insert your own hair jokes here, if you will). The aroma is light, with slightly toasted malts and just a light background of hop bitterness. The 5 Rabbit uses noble Saaz hops, I’m guessing this does the same, or maybe has a milder German hop. As I thought, an easy beer. However, the taste does holds its own. Many golden/blond ales come across as sweet or sugary, but this keeps my sweet tooth calmed just from the malt, probably Pilsner or a similar light malt. I might not rule out out a touch of maize to keep the body light. For a beer in that’s nearly in the "session" range, it is quite filling, and it finishes with just a little extra flourish of bitterness. No lingering sugar or hop aftertaste. Except for the slight fruity ale ester, this might fool some people in thinking they had an Old Style. It’s a very good base beer for the summer, at least for as long as it lasts. You like to think of yourself as one of barbarians at the gates, overrunning the estate and drinking beverages formerly reserved for the master and his snooty guests… then you’re like me!

Draft sample @ The Stein & Vine, Brandon.

Pour is a murky yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a big fruit. I don’t know if it’s the hops or the touch of passion fruit but this is plenty fruity. Flavor is a bit sour then some tropical fruit juices. Finish leaves a bit of the sour fruit juices on the tongue. I could not drink a lot of this as it is way sour but having one really cleanses the palate with the fruit and high carbonation.
