Description
In 2004, Richard spent several weeks in France learning how to make Normandy cider with the local cider makers. Being a true enthusiast, he put his tutor on the case to find a Cider press. Eventually he had a call to confirm that a suitable press had been found in an old barn and Richard went over to dismantle it and bring it back to St Ouen. The press turned out to be a "turn of the century" piece of French history, languishing in a Normandy Farm. Thriving on a challenge, and being an engineer who loves old machinery, Richard restored the press and installed it in an out-building at our farmhouse in St Ouen. And so, in 2005, La Robeline Cider Company Ltd was born.

Pint from the cask at the brew restaurant La Robeline. Pours clear yellow with a thin head. Aromas & tastes of apples, pear & hints of oak. Moderate body. Slightly dry sweet finish. Quite enjoyable especially given the location.

Bottle from Corkscrew St Helier. First up I had this cold.. It pours clear golden with minimal head. The nose is sweet Apple, candy, fruit pie, tart tatin, light earth/barnyard, light must, straw and dull vinegar. The taste is tart, mild acidity, Earth, barnyard, sweet apple, pear skin, mouth-pucker, wood and light vinegar with a drying finish. Medium body and low carbonation. It is a bit more acidic than their normal stuff. 3max overall. Then tried hot direct from their stall. Species seem to work a lot better and it taste sweeter and less vinegary. More like 3.4 for the latter. Drink it mulled!

Keg at The Cider Shack at St Helier Xmas Market. It pours hazy orange with a small fizzy white head. The nose is juicy red apple, apple pie, barnyard, mild funk, caramel and fruit tart. The taste is crisp, sweet juicy red apple, appletizer, apple pie, mild acidity, barnyard bitter-sweet finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. As good as the dry, with just a touch more sweetness. Pretty crushable.

The taste is crisp, juicy apple, apple pie, sherbet and mild fruity tartness with a lightly dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Drinks as easy as apple juice. Not a huge amount of depth, but rather enjoyable.

Bottle from Coop Grand Marché, St. Helier. The cider starts very dry and tart. Interesting, as there is not much appley fruitiness left. Quite hints of water behind sour apples. The spices are only very far away in the background - but there was a bag of spices attached to the bottle to put into the cider when warming it. So I think it also will need a bit of honey to be great for the winter. The aftertaste is long, sourish apples with hints of water and only hints of spices.
Nice idea, but I think a bit too sourish and way too watery.

Bottle from Coop Grand Marché, St. Helier. Dry and astringent beginning. Fruity, but not too much. The mainpart is tart, fruity. Quite dry with lots of fruity apples left. But not too deep. The aftertaste is tart, dry apples, lots of carbonation.
Nice dry cider, but not too deep.
