(From notes) Draft at The Iowa Taproom, 3-16-2016. Near black color, thin lasting white head. Aroma is mild chocolate, char, hints of roasted malts.

Lighter in body for the style but the thing that surprised me the most was the smoke. It is here but subtle. The beer menu didn’t mention anything about smoke, subtle is good and complimented the other flavors. I enjoyed both samples I had from this brewer.

Draft at Iowa Taproom, De Monies. 3-16-2016,from notes. Looks black in pour lighting. No much in the way of head retention. Aroma is cocoa powder, delicate roast, traces of vanilla.

Flavor is a carbon copy of the aroma. Decent roasted character for the style. Body is right for a porter and the carbonation gave a slight creamy texture. Actually better than the Millstream stout I had directly after it.
