A very solid dry stout - the addition of the peat smoked malt gives it a strong, earthy, smoky character that lends itself well to the dry, roasty qualities of the beer - it is fitting that there are roots on the bottle, because the beer tastes of the soil - a lot of dry cocoa character arrives late, and lasts through the finish - long finish of smoke and wood - really nice.

Bottle: Very dark brown pour with a thin brown head. Roasty and chocolatey aroma gives the impression of a dry, smokey, and ash laden roast. Taste is more roasty, smokey, and burnt malt. Ashes. Some espresso. Peat malt, as per the description. Fits their bill and good for the intentions.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large brown head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was woody, smoky and roasty. The flavor was dryish, woody and smoky with notes of tasty malts, vanilla and a touch of rum. The finish was medium length dry, roasty and woody. Medium body. Solid.

Brown orange yellow 134. Rocky head. Crisp beer aroma. Good metallic carbonation on the p[alate. Sharp bitter flavors but not in the hoppy way, more like deep malt er sumthin. Long bitter medicine finish, wew. Overall not as spicey or veggie as I would have suspected.

for a light colored beer, this stuff sure smells chocolatey! slightly darker than a pale lager and a little on the hay colored side. Nice and smooth and rather malty, just like the aroma. Not a whole lotta bitterness but just enough to let you know its beer. Friendly, for the most part and seems to be more refined than many of the american english pale ales I’ve tasted. Overall, a decent beer and its rather well behaved. Finish is malty beer that is not over the top nor excessive, OK beer experience. Rates right up there with other EPA I find interesting such as Paper City Holyoke Dam Ale, Gearys Pale, Arcadia Anglers Ale & Odell 5 Barrel Pale Ale

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized orange-beige head. The aroma was faint fruity, spicy and floral hops. The flavor was dryish and peppery with a tart fruity hop presence that was slightly rough. The finish was medium length tart, fruity and peppery hops. Medium body. Ok.
