0.5 L bottle. Very dark, opaque brown, with a thin, tan head. Light coffee, butter toffee, maple syrup, black pepper, and black bread. Very sweet up front, with a little spiciness and booze warming in the finish. Medium to heavy, very thick, syrupy, and a little too acidic. Overall, this is a very strong, flavorful, and surprisingly complex beer. Nicely done.

Sample at the Memorial Day Deck Beers tasting on 05/27/2013: Growler courtesy of a traveling colleague. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium white head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and roast malt. Medium-bodied with a moderately bitter citrusy hops character, with some sweet malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a fruity aftertaste. Pretty good all around.
