Description
We are Fyne Ales, a family-owned Scottish farm brewery. When our brewery was founded in 2001, the goal was not only to make the best quality beer, but to bring jobs, industry and tourism to our community and our quiet corner of rural Scotland. We’ve continued brewing in this spirit ever since. Drawing water from the hills and brewing in converted farm buildings, we create modern, ambitious and progressive beers in a wide variety of styles.

Bottle from Asda Aberdeen Dyce. It pours near black with a small, bubbly lasting off-white head. The aroma is charred, dark roasted malt, heavy umami, savoury liquorice character, malt loaf, cacao.nibs and coffee grounds. The taste is firmly dry, punchy bitterness, dark roasted malt, burnt toast, charred vibes, umami, liquorice, dark chocolate, muted smoke, chewy and toasty spice with a rather drying, bitter roasted finish. Average body and soft carbonation. Maybe edging towards too much bitterness/dryness? No doubting it's flavourful thighs. Nice, just think it maybe needs a touch more balance.

Bottle from Oban Beer Seller. It pours darkest brown to black with a small bubbly tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred, dark chocolate, umami, pipe tobacco, rocky road, toasted marshmallow, coffee grounds and mocha. The taste is firmly dry upfront, dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, boozy alcohol boost, slightly charred, salty edge, dark chocolate, cacao nibs, umami, touch of treacle, coffee, some spice and chocolate bourbon biscuits with a warming, fake chocolate finale. Medium+ body and soft carbonation. Works pretty well. Expected a touch nor ebidya Nd carbonation, but I liked it nonetheless.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Dull orangey-amber with a thin off-white head and a light carbonation. Decent condition as usual for this 'Spoons. Malty with toasted brown bread and a little caramel. Some light marmalade and blackberry notes. Dry finish. More like a bitter than a brown ale, but grew on me after a meh start.

Can from Oban Beer Seller. It pours dark brown to black with a decent beige head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, charred, umami, salty liquorice, coffee grounds, cacao nibs, dark chocolate, malt loaf and molasses. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, charred, burnt toast, umami, liquorice, ashy, dark chocolate, cacao nibs, espresso coffee, light acidity, cracked black pepper and tar with a bitter, dark roasted finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Inspected.a bit more support from the nitro carbonation, maybe the keg version would.be better. Decent, if a touch too charred and ashy.
