Bottle at Zoo Brew. Pours a clear dark amber with an off white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains with some roasted malts and a touch of earthiness. Flavor has more roasted malts with earthy dark grains and a touch of bread.

Bottle. Pours clear black with a small fizzy tan head that dissipates quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is roasty, burned, ashes. Flavor is lightly smoky, roasty, ashy, light sweet and light bitter, some acidity. Lightish body, low carbonation. Decent.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown - almost black color with red-orange highlights and a medium sized fluffy tan head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was cola, a bit of cherry, wood and smoke. The flavor was cola, wood, a hint of roasty malts and a faint cherry undertone. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

12 fl. oz. bottle. Pours a clear, dark reddish brown with a small, short lived tan head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Sweet flavour of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and a hint of smoke with a mildly dry, bitter finish. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation.

Pour is a black with a small white head. Aroma is toasted sweet malt. Flavor is a decent but all around small cocoa, roasted malt and with maybe a bit of coffee showing up toward the end. Finish is a bit watery but leaves a nice roasted malt on the tongue. Pretty decent for the style of which I rarely get a chance to sample.

Rich cola coloured body with a plain brown glow and almost no head at all. Aroma of coffee, walnuts, pecans and a good amount of toasted malt - not too bad. Light-bodied; Strong nutty flavour throughout with a lot of pecans and walnuts and some light malt notes coupled with a hint of caramel. Aftertaste shows the nuts and malt with quite a big aftertaste from the nuts and leaves quite a big bitterness. Overall, not the worst beer i’ve had of course, but not leaving any exciting notes at all - some caramel and quite a big dose of nuts. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church, Virginia on 22-April-2014 for US$1.49 sampled at home in Washington on 06-July-2014.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 4/23/2014. Pours crystal clear reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, light fruits, and roast/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and light hop/yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, light fruits, and roast/yeast earthiness. Slight earthy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, and roast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of roast/bready malt and light hop/yeast ester flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly bready/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good schwarzbier style. Nice complexity/balance and solid robustness of roast/bready malt and light hop/yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle. A- Roasty, chocolate, coffee, metallic. A- Black color, dark liquid, off white head. T- Roasty, cocoa, coffee, malty, watery. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- This was just a beer that tried to use a slogan to be cool to brew a beer that was cool and it just all around didn’t quite work out. There was some roastiness and some chocolate but otherwise there was nothing complex about it. I think I will do as the name implies and Keep Calm (not complain) and Carry On (to a better beer).

Pours cola brown into a Sam glass. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to coat surface. Chocolate and caramel aromas. Dry with soy and milk chocolate front to back.
